This is wild new destiny to lore might have revealed major renegades expansion details story characters destination and more so if you don't know what renegades is in six months we're going to get a Star Wars inspired destiny to story there's not Star Wars characters coming into destiny 2 nothing crazy like that other than the cosmetics like you know darth vader and all that but we're doing the destiny 2 story it's going to continue with the nine just as it has continued with the edge of fate the fate saga continues it's going to be star wars inspired right star wars-esque so let's see what this is all about a new destiny 2 lore book has fans piecing together the potential story of renegades the next expansion in the year of prophecy Destiny 2's Year of Prophecy is just getting started. The first major expansion, Edge of Fate, launched on July 15th and kicked off the multi-year story centered around the 9. And from what I've been told, or from what I've read, I believe it was initially meant to be like a six-year saga. I don't know. We don't have an exact timeline. Apparently it can adjust and change based on, you know, maybe Bungie is a little more nimble with their storytelling now.

Like maybe if the story is drying up a little bit, they'll run it through a little faster. We'll see. We'll see what happens. It's a follow-up.

Renegades is set to arrive on December 2nd and continues Bungie's new two expansion yearly model. And they're expecting this to be big, right? Obviously the edge of fate didn't have the best launch it didn't pull in the biggest numbers but this one is centered around december 2nd so right during that uh you know that christmas time when they start raking in the gaming companies start raking in the money literally it's also star wars themed which is the first you know big time this has happened i mean obviously got darth vader skin and i think a lot of people will be interested in what this will look like and of course you know we're gonna have lightsabers in destiny too that's always pretty cool so i think that this is meant to be a big money-making scheme from bungie and we'll see if it's successful let's see let's see what they're cooking up with this this next expansion is also turning heads for another reason it's heavy inspiration from lucasfilm's star wars universe the teaser trailer showcased a sci-fi desert city lightsaber swords and blasters.

There was also a dark side themed armor that players could get as a pre-order bonus. But beyond the themed cosmetics, fans think Renegades is building towards something much bigger. A newly released Lore in the Edge of Fate may have just dropped the first big clue.

New Destiny 2 Renegades lore hints at return to Mars, Cabal faction, and more. The lore book in question is called Treacherous Contacts, and it's made up of a series of encrypted intel reports. If you piece them together, it paints a pretty clear picture.

someone with real manufacturing clout is arming a new cabal faction on mars they really use clout in the lore according to the messages these cabal have brand new weapons not the usual red legion leftovers oh okay i wonder what these cabal are going to be cooking up sounds similar to like what we did with the edge of fate right they had a bunch of you know we left the very edge of our solar system so we're at sol And the Fallen, you know, they got special jetpacks, they got like strand shields. They're trading with local gangs, so they're going to have some more powerful weaponry. So Cabal, what would the Cabal have if they had more powerful weaponry? Try to think what that would even look like. I can't even picture it.

If they have even more obnoxious shields, I'm going to be mad though. Local gangs across a location referred to as Tharsis. Even more concerning... They've started targeting pericausal weapons, the kind infused with power from the light or darkness. Oh, so will they have the ability to kill our ghosts and full kill us?

We'll see. In one entry, an agent says flat out, I know the Martian cabal isn't a sanctioned target, But mark my words, it's only a matter of time. Nobody stockpiles this much gear without hedging against Guardian interference. They'll want Parakaz weapons sooner or later, and by the time we see them in the field, it'll be too late. Another encrypted message reveals that the Cabal have ambushed Xur.

They tied up Xur and took his weaponry. Destiny 2's weekend exotic vendor. And stolen three specific exotic weapons.

Bad Juju, Malfeasance, and Ruinous Effigy. All tied to Hive or Taken Magic. So the Cabal hogtied Xur? Stole Bad Juju, Feasance, and Ruinous Effigy from him?

This... This is going to be so sick. No way.

Imagine you're playing PvE out there, right? And a Cabal is just out there like peeking over his shield with a fucking malfeasance on you, shooting you with ruinous effigy. What would he even do with a bad Juju?

He doesn't even have a super. They also took Xur's flight records, leaving all the strange coins, glimmer, and standard gear. As one message notes, clearly knew what they were after.

This won't be their last attempt to secure advanced weaponry. Hmm. That flight data may have been the real prize. Later messages in the lore book show Cabal ships referencing Xur's dominion and eternity. Looks like I was right about the flight records being the real target of Xur's stick-up.

Intercepted comms from an unidentified Cabal ship included references Xur's dominion and eternity. The message repeats nine times. Somebody's trying to make contact. And we got, there are also the Scion who are building a cipher device using periodic elements as its key.

The lore reads, Not the words for the elements, but the elements themselves. They have to be getting outside help, and I mean way outside. I think the renegade cabal are making headway.

Our undercovers on Mars report their lieutenants out trading for samples of periodic elements, most of them benign. Tungsten, iodine ytterbium neodymium and the list goes on and not in quantities useful for manufacturing either something's up so what are fans saying about this over on r slash destiny lore reddit user xoise1738 posted a full breakdown tying all of this together they theorize that the cabal are being backed by someone with serious knowledge of hive magic possibly janna 14 a known But they also float a more interesting possibility. Shin Maofu aka Dredgen Vale might be involved and will be chasing him in Renegades. That sounds nice.

That sounds would be really cool if that was the case. They also point... to the mention of Tharsis, a name that only ever showed up back in the Destiny 1's Marzone, Meridian Bay. Exoise believes Tharsis could be a brand new destination in Renegades. I like that, especially considering we just got Kepler.

And, you know, love or hate Kepler's design or aesthetic, I think it's a cool planetary destination. I like the caverns and stuff. Not the biggest fan of Matterspark, but the destination I don't hate.
