  • Topic: Immediate first impressions after completing a new dungeon (heavy spoilers).

  • Emphasis: Overall structure, standout encounters, aesthetic impact, and early lore takeaways and uncertainties.

Dungeon Structure & Journey

  • Three major segments form a continuous journey:

    • Opening encounter on Venus outside the Praxic Temple.

    • Transition via a near‑lightspeed sequence aboard the first ship.

    • Continued advance to a second ship and the final confrontation.

  • The scale is deliberately used to:

    • Convey the size, reach, and continued relevance of the Barent Imperium.

    • Show that a “dungeon” can now span multiple ships and environments, not just a single static location.

Section

Location / Sequence

Key Features & Notes

First Encounter

Venus, exterior of Praxic Temple

Gladiator boss wielding stolen Praxic Blades; sets up Dredgen activity and Praxic conflict.

Transit

Lightspeed travel between ships

Cinematic “new lightspeed” sprint; visual payoff as the first ship drops out of lightspeed after a boss kill.

Ship Encounters

First ship, then second ship / carrier

Additional bosses, lore pickups (audio logs), and final Dredgen boss with throne‑world themes.

  • Compared to earlier dungeons that are mostly a descent or traversal through one space (e.g., a station or a single pyramid ship), this dungeon:

    • Breaks the experience into discrete legs.

    • Suggests future dungeons could shuttle players between planets or very different environments mid‑run.

Key Encounters & Mechanics

  • First boss:

    • A Cabal/Barent gladiator who has stolen Praxic Blades from the Venus temple.

    • Framed as a Dredgen in training; the reveal of the stolen blades is a big thematic and visual moment.

  • Final boss: Dredgen Seer

    • Uses arc‑style “lightning tickle fingers,” evoking Sith‑like hand‑projected lightning.

    • Death messages mention “arc eversion”:

      • “Eversion” is the same term used for “taking,” hinting at Taken‑like mechanics in the attack.

      • Suggests a blend of arc and Taken‑adjacent energy rather than standard Light powers.

    • No Ghost is present in the encounter; supports the idea that Seer is not a Lightbearer.

    • Model appears human or close to it (five‑fingered hands: four fingers and a thumb), pointing toward human or Awoken rather than Scion.

    • Encounter is framed around Seer building or claiming an ascendant throne world, strongly tying the fight to higher‑order Darkness structures.

  • Exotic‑mission boss:

    • A Dredgen‑in‑training called Harrow (“Dredgen‑to‑be”).

    • Indicates a formalized path for apprentices to rise into full Dredgen status.

  • Additional enemies:

    • Numerous unnamed apprentices and acolytes show that this is not a simple “master and one apprentice” setup.

    • Reinforces that any “rule of two” analogy does not fully apply here.

Core Lore & Thematic Threads

  • Primary quest theme: “Way Between”

    • Centers on walking the line between Light and Darkness.

    • Goal is to demonstrate to the Praxic Order that using both powers can still serve humanity and the Last City.

    • Involves recovering stolen artifacts, starting with one taken back from the final boss (a Dredgen).

  • Dredgens:

    • No longer defined strictly as Dark Guardians or even Lightbearers:

      • Bael, a major Dredgen, never wielded the Light.

      • Dredgens now encompass various dark‑aligned power users and ideologies rather than a tidy “Dark Guardian” label.

    • Not species‑locked:

      • Presence of a Cabal/Barent Dredgen confirms Dredgens can be non‑human.

    • Powers and methods:

      • May be cultivating ascendant throne worlds instead of merely using Gambit‑style Darkness.

      • Appear to tap into Taken‑like energies and other arcane powers that are not yet fully explained.

      • Use of Weapons of Sorrow has historically been a defining trait, though the final boss does not visibly wield one despite their lightning powers.

    • Generational spread:

      • Bael is training multiple apprentices (Seer, Harrow, and nameless others).

      • Player characters and Gambit “Dredgen” title holders complicate counting, but this could be seen as a third or fourth generation of Dredgens.

      • Sets up a future where many more dark‑powered agents exist, potentially using Weapons of Sorrow and similar tools to destabilize the system.

  • Praxic vs. Dredgen axis:

    • Dungeon and quest set the stage for Praxics facing organized Dredgens directly.

    • There is potential for the Praxics to soften their stance on Darkness as the quest progresses and the “Way Between” is demonstrated in practice.

Praxic Temple Architecture & Questions

  • The Venus Praxic Temple is clearly built around or within a pyramid‑like complex.

  • Byf is highly skeptical of this repeated pattern:

    • Pyramids are strongly associated with Darkness, bad history, and “bad vibes.”

    • Using them as Praxic bases seems counterintuitive for a Light‑aligned order.

  • Possible in‑universe explanations (all speculative within the transcript):

    • Praxics are co‑opting pre‑existing dark pyramid complexes and flooding them with Light to contain or overwrite what is inside.

    • They are using the existing structure to contain dangerous dark relics more securely.

    • They may actively be constructing new infrastructure into and around these complexes (visible scaffolding and ongoing work).

  • Regardless, the choice is portrayed as risky and questionable, raising a major ongoing lore question: why build temples inside or around pyramid complexes at all?

Audio Logs, Hierarchy, and Internal Conflict

  • Audio logs are scattered through the dungeon:

    • At least one located on one of the ships.

    • Features Bael speaking directly to Seer (his apprentice).

  • Log content (as described):

    • Bael suggests that their apprentice might surpass them.

    • Echoes Sith‑style master‑apprentice dynamics:

      • Ambition, potential betrayal, and a constant pressure for apprentices to outgrow or challenge their masters.

  • Implications:

    • Dredgens have an evolving hierarchy with multiple acolytes and apprentices, rather than a rigid pair.

    • Internal rivalries and power grabs may prevent them from becoming perfectly unified, but also make them dangerous and unpredictable.

    • This dynamic keeps the Dredgens “alive” as a narrative force, always scheming, shifting, and expanding.

Visual / Character & Aesthetic Highlights

  • Species and anatomy:

    • Dredgen Seer’s model has five‑fingered hands, strongly indicating human or Awoken rather than Scion.

  • Aesthetic strengths:

    • Dungeon is praised as visually impressive and varied:

      • The Venus temple exterior, the interior pyramid‑style architecture, and the Barent Imperium ships each have distinct looks.

      • The near‑lightspeed transit section is especially memorable and cinematic.

    • Final boss encounter is described as having real “wow factor,” effectively selling the scale and stakes of the fight.

  • Redefining “dungeon”:

    • This dungeon shows that the term no longer implies one contiguous temple or underground space.

    • Instead, it can encompass large‑scale journeys, ship‑to‑ship transitions, and interstitial travel sequences.

Outstanding Questions, Issues, and Follow‑Ups

  • Lore book status:

    • Dungeon ties into a lore book associated with Dredgen Bael (within the Dusk and Dawn section).

    • Byf sees one entry still missing or inaccessible:

      • Unsure whether this is a progression gating issue or a bug.

      • Further steps in the dungeon quest may reveal the final entry.

  • Mechanics and cosmology:

    • How exactly Dredgens access Taken‑like “eversion” effects alongside arc energy remains unclear.

    • The exact nature of their arc/Taken hybrid abilities, especially for Seer, needs more investigation.

  • Praxic Order direction:

    • Will the Praxics ultimately accept the controlled use of Darkness, or remain rigidly opposed?

    • How will the “Way Between” and other quests (including Sunder Doctrine, which stalled after week one) reshape their doctrine?

  • Species confirmation:

    • Seer is likely human or Awoken based on hands, but final confirmation requires closer model inspection.

  • Future lore exploration:

    • More secrets and audio logs are expected throughout the dungeon.

    • Additional quest steps may expand on Bael, Seer, Harrow, the Barent Imperium, and the Dredgen network.

Action Items for Further Study

  • Track down the missing Dusk and Dawn / Dredgen Bael lore entry once quest gates open or bugs are resolved.

  • Review footage or in‑game models to:

    • Confirm Seer’s hand/finger details and species.

    • Re‑check death messages and visual cues around “arc eversion” and any Taken‑style effects.

  • Complete the full “Way Between” questline and resume Sunder Doctrine when available:

    • Note any shifts in Praxic doctrine or explicit statements on Light/Dark dual use.

  • Systematically locate and log every dungeon audio log:

    • Map Bael–Seer–Harrow relationships.

    • Clarify the internal structure, ambitions, and rivalries of the Dredgens as an emerging organization.

Greetings, Guardians. My name is Byf here, doing a bit of a live recording. Welcome also to the people in the YouTube and the Twitch chat who are watching this live.

We just completed the dungeon. We went ahead and did the first encounter on Contest. Normal mode opened up because Mario and Luigi are absolutely correct.

And then, yeah, now we have completed our normal and wow, are there some things to say. As a quick note, um, spoilers, obviously. We are in the first encounter space and if you didn't want to see any of this beforehand, yeah, just take my word for it, there will be big spoilers in this. Don't, don't be silly.

Self-sort, you know what you're doing. Secondly, yeah, I have some thoughts on this. Do not expect this to be a massive in-depth lore video. This is literally just gonna be me doing my stuff, doing whatever.

So if this is going on and you are watching this and looking for my longer thoughts on everything, that's a video that'll be coming very soon. However, having completed the dungeon, boy are there some cool segments in this thing. I think the transition between encounters one and two in particular is really cool. It's got this section where you are running through And you've got this kind of like new light speed moment where the ship is speeding off to a command carrier that is under the Barent Imperium.

And that is where you will face off against the rest of the dungeon. So it's actually in like three different sections. You face the first encounter down here on Venus in front of the Praxic Temple, which I have words about this. Then you go up onto the ship, the first of the ships, you transition through Lightspeed.

You actually see the Lightspeed section for that ship ending after you've killed the first of the two encounter bosses. And then when that's all said and done, you know, you will continue on to a second ship. And it just kind of gives you a few things.

First of all, I love the scale of it for the sake of ensuring that you understand the size of the Burant Imperium. And also kind of seeing that they are still a relevant threat. But also, I love the way that they've done the bosses in this.

The first of them is kind of proving that Dredgens can indeed be more than just humans. More than just Lightbearers as well, because they're a Cabal. They're a Dredgen in training, but boy oh boy is it a memorable fight, because yeah, this is a gladiator who has stolen a couple of Praxic Blades, and oh boy, that's an incredible reveal when it does actually go down and when it does happen. Very interesting and fun.

Makes a ton of sense that they would steal that kind of technology from the actual Praxic Temple back here. There is also a full-on quest that we need to finish up and do with this, which is the Way Between. Now, the core theme of all this is all about the idea of treading between the light and dark and ensuring that you're able to show the rest of the Praxic Order that you can indeed use both light and darkness and still serve the good of humanity and the good of the city. It involves gathering artifacts that were stolen, the first of which you recover from the final boss, which is a Dredgen, my prediction was correct.

But I didn't expect them to be quite what they are. I'll be completely honest and I will level with you. Whilst we can be fairly certain that they're not a light bearer because of Arnor's line at the beginning saying quote "not a light bearer amongst them", this character seems as though they're a human, albeit one that has been scaled up for the size of being a boss with an actual hitbox you can attack.

That being said, they have some very interesting quirks to them. They use arc energy and they do the whole Sith Lord thing of doing the whole tickle fingers, nasty Sith lightning coming out of their hands kind of attack, which is very cool. However, when they actually attack you, it's noted that they are potentially making the attack with taken energy and some kind of arc energy.

I died to the attack a few times and when you do die, it says something along the lines of arc eversion. Which is an important wording there, because "Eversion" is literally what it means to take. So I'm not entirely sure why it's the case. I still think it's clear that they're not a Lightbearer.

There was no ghost in that encounter, but also... Yeah, their ability to access these things. I don't exactly understand quite how they're doing that yet. It's a very cool encounter though. The premise of the dredgen there is also built into this idea that they're making themselves a throne world.

which is kind of awesome. Having said all of that, I think there are a few bits and pieces which I would love to explore a little bit more of. First of all, yeah, the Praxic Temple thing. There's no way of looking at this architecture any other way.

This is a pyramid complex, and I would love to know why the Praxic Order keeps making their temples inside of pyramid complexes. You know, it's entirely possible that this is just a way of containing things that are within, because obviously if you do have an area that is built in as a pyramid complex, it's filled with darkness and filled with terrible relics of darkness and decidedly is not a place where the Praxix would easily and happily go ahead and just do things unless there was a very good purpose. So, I really want to know why that's the case. Because yeah, it could just be that they're using the architecture of something that's already existing there.

It could be that this is what the Praxics do. They take a place that's filled with darkness and then they fill it with light instead. But like, man, it could also be that they're constructing something within this temple. Because I mean, you know, we literally have the scaffolding of everything, especially if we look out and around. It could be building things in and around the structure as it goes.

But, yeah, it strikes me as a very silly idea for the Praxix to be doing this because, I mean, it's a pyramid structure. These things are filled with bad vibes and it doesn't tend to be the greatest idea, but maybe they know something that I don't. As for other bits and pieces as well, I really want to go ahead and see how the dungeon's quest pans out and whether it gives us any more of the lore book that is attached to Dredgen Bale.

Let me see if I can find that real quick. Nope, that's the wrong thing. That's on my catalysts.

Because if I'm not mistaken, it should be in the Dusk and Dawn section here. Or do I already have all of them? Ah, okay.

So I do have all of them. The entries have just been revealed now. Or there is a bug which is preventing us from actually seeing the rest of the entries. I'm not sure which. There is still one that's missing, but I am not sure what's going on with that.

Maybe this is the last bit, because I knew I didn't have all of this. Either way, we'll see if there's something that gets revealed on that front. See if it gets pushed along.

That may be some other kind of intriguing detail that brings us further into the quest. I think the biggest takeaway from it as well is that there's... A chance for the Praxix to be brought around to the idea that, yeah, we can use Darkness. I think there is also the chance for us to sit there and see Praxix versus Dredjans be an actual established fight. Because clearly Bael has been able to train Dredjans and Apprentices and to just push forward with the idea that he doesn't need to be the only one.

Like, clearly he's still gonna be the master of the bunch unless there's a power grab. But yeah, if there are more Dredgens out there, he may have started what is the third or fourth generation of Dredgens, depending on how you see our player characters and people who acquired the Gambit seal that calls them a Dredgen. So yeah, if that's the case, interesting development.

And that will mean that we have an entire new thread of dark guardians and, well, dark-powered users going out there, potentially using things like the Weapons of Sorrow and just making life hell for so many more of us. But yeah, that's an interesting potential future from all of this. And again, the cool thing about that is we know that a Cabal can be a Dredgen. So it can be any species.

I say a Cabal, a Barant. Yeah, those are Barant. Also, for the people who were talking about Seer, I'm just referring something in the YouTube chat here because I think it's relevant. Looking closer at the hands, I'm pretty sure Seer did not have three fingers. Which means they are not a Scion.

I could be wrong and I'll need to look again, but yeah, I'll need to check. I think they might be human or some kind of human analog, like an Awoken. I'd need to go ahead and take a look, but I was shooting at the hands and I think they had five fingers.

Well, four fingers and a thumb, but you get my point. Entirely possible that we have more that's going on here. The quest to go ahead and do things like Sunder Doctrine, that kind of cut us off after the first week, so it's possible that we won't be able to progress this step. There are still more secrets to find throughout this as well. There's definitely a series of audio logs throughout the dungeon because we found one of them on one of the ships.

And it's Bael addressing Seer, his apprentice, who Dredgen Seer is the final boss of this dungeon. And yeah, it's just a very interesting little moment there with them. It's even talking about how his apprentice, I'm not sure if it was his or her apprentice, their apprentice might surpass them was the drift of what Bael was saying.

And so, yeah, that kind of... It parallels with some of the Star Wars lore, because obviously within the Sith hierarchy there's always the attempt by others to surpass their masters. But also I think it's kind of important because you will then see that being a thing that the Dredgens take on and, you know, better for us to face them like that. Because they will be able to enable like strange schemes amongst themselves that will potentially have destructive influences and will prevent them from actually being as effective.

It also just means that there's a very cool notion of conflict and hierarchy which... It means the Dredgens are kind of dynamic, you know? Like they will never be like sitting still in one place forever.

Someone in the chat is saying "Always two there are, no more no less." However, we had many nameless apprentices throughout this dungeon and we also had the apprentice to Dredgen Seer who in themselves was clearly one of Bael's acolytes. And in the process of the exotic mission, the Dredgen in training we fight here is called... Well, it's called Harrow, who is Dredgen to be, I believe, is the title that they have. So yeah, like there's a bunch of stuff going on with that that's not really been sort of nailed down and confirmed. But I don't think that the rule of two applies here.

There will not be just two Dredgens. Overall, it's really neat. I think aesthetically as well, the dungeon absolutely blows things away.

It kind of... I know the word "dungeon" kind of defines something. It makes it seem like it's a single space, you know? Like as though we're going into this temple and that's all that there is. But honestly, I think that it can nowadays be much more than that.

I think a dungeon no longer needs to be defined like that. Especially because of the way that this space treats the elements within it. You know, you've got an entire section where you just go through a near light speed sequence Yeah, it just leaves you in this place of like, hey, if we're running through a dungeon, we could just be going to another planet at some point. We could be going to another environment, which in itself is pretty cool.

The journey of this dungeon is probably the biggest that we've seen. Like there's lots where it's, you know, going through the station of Vespas host, for example, or the pyramid ship complex within Sundered Doctrine. And it's like that entire journey is basically just this...

descent or this traversal through one location. This dungeon breaks it up a little bit. Gives interesting potential for the future. His model has five fingers. He's human or human adjacent.

Yes, thank you, Captain Rylick. Anyway, yeah, no, there's interesting stuff going on in the dungeon thus far. I would go ahead and say that if you want to jump in and see what the lore things are, I will need time to go ahead and dig through it. But, first impressions, this is a damn cool dungeon. And the final boss is...

I mean, what a wow factor. They absolutely sell how crazy that entire encounter can be. Plus, I mean, I think the bigger part to all of it as well is just that as you go through the dungeon and you do more things here, it sort of paves the way for the future a little bit.

Dredgens have been something that have been very well developed within the lore, but now there are Dredgens that are notably potentially building out ascendant throne worlds for themselves and using powers of the Taken and powers that we hadn't previously understood and manifesting things that are different. This relies a lot on the things that Dredgens used to be. But I think it's also relying on some things that will allow them to push into the future and change who they are as an organization. Because here's the thing as well, even with just Renegades, we no longer define Dredgen as Dark Guardian, because the Guardian part of that isn't technically true. Not even a Dark Lightbearer, because again, Bael didn't wield the light.

I feel as though it's not even technically correct to name them as Darkness users, because, you know, the use of Stasis is not guaranteed to do the thing either, and the Weapons of Sorrow is probably the thing that we want to define them by now. You know, it's this idea of they're able to use that. That being said, maybe, maybe not, because, heck, the final boss for all of the lightning tickle fingers hands it has. Yeah, I didn't see a weapon of sorrow on it. Anyway, thus far, very fun for the first impressions of this dungeon.

I really like what they've done with this. And, you know, there is more still to discover. But the first impressions are that this could be a really, really cool bit of storytelling.

The one bit that bothers me is I want to know why the hell the Praxix are building inside pyramid complexes. This is a bad idea, guys. Stop doing it.

Please, just build a normal structure or find a different place that you can use as a temple. Like, this is a bad idea. It's a really bad idea. So yeah, that's kind of my take on things thus far.

Very cool dungeon, lots of potential. I want to see where this goes. So yeah, there's a lot of cool things.

Anyway, I'm going to end it here before I witter on. Fallout and Ares and I are going to go ahead and do the contest mode of the dungeon, and we'll continue the stream. Know that your viewership as always has been quite enough for me, and that in the meantime, my name has been, my name is Byf, Parodasi Adastra, and I will see you all star-side.

Oh gosh, Ares has been kicked. Oh no. Rest in peace.
