Destiny 2 Weekly Update Summary

What's up guys, Houndish here, and today we're jumping in with a preview for the weekly reset coming up this week on the 2nd of September. So we're now in the very final week of, well, the bit before Ash and Iron drops. We're still in Season of Reclamation, of course, as seasons now drop in sort of two phases with the major update, and that will be dropping next week. So this week we can anticipate even more news about that initially.

Before we get to it though, we do have one final event that'll be active this week in the form of Heavy Metal. Once again, this is the Drakes vs Briggs game mode, and it'll bring back one or two rewards which haven't been available since Episode Heresy. On top of that though, there will be a couple of new weapons to go after in the form of a new shotgun and sword, so we'll talk about those A couple of other seasonal updates that we're getting, and of course before we get to next week's update with Ash and Iron, we will additionally get a reveal for the Renegades expansion according to Bungie.

So a few things to talk about this week guys, and hopefully we'll also get further updates regarding the game portal progression and changes that Bungie plan to make. So first up, before we talk about content things for this week, something to bear in mind. On the 9th of September, Bungie had said that they plan to have a reveal for Renegades ahead of the Ash and Iron update. It's actually been a couple of months since they said this was going to be a thing and they haven't commented on it since.

But I assume that that is still the plan. So next Tuesday, ahead of Ash and Iron, there will be a reveal for the next big content drop. Presumably, Bungie will give us more info about that later on this week with the twit.

So as always, I will keep you posted. Onto stuff this week though, of course the Kepler weekly missions will refresh, I just realised I still have one to complete. These can drop gear at one tier higher than what you should be earning, so over 350 power, they should be weekly tier 5 drops, but of course there's only one per week. Not that I see something to think about if you want any specific weapons or armor pieces from Kepler. To the seasonal side though, this week we won't actually get any new seasonal challenges, at least according to the database, as it lists seven weeks of challenges.

So last week was the last set that we'll get before we get to Reclamation and Ash and Iron, Bungie will be adding more next week. And they also say the current list of challenges will reset when Ash and Iron arrives on September 9th. So basically, if there are any that you want to complete, now's the time to do it, as as they'll be taken away. And the assumption is that we won't actually be able to save any that we currently have completed for XP and Ashen Iron.

So just keep that in mind. And in relation to content in the portal this week, Bungie have said, due to an issue where the score accelerator in the portal wasn't correctly forecasting scores, it's been disabled until a fix can be deployed at a later date. The intention of the accelerator being active was to mitigate the issue where the surge was active, and it was blocking players from using the famine modifier and obtaining Guardian Rank 8. So to ensure that won't occur, there will be no surges with this week's weekly reset. So just something to keep in mind, and hopefully there'll be no progression lockouts on Guardian Ranks or things like that. For the event arriving in the Crucible node this week though, we have Heavy Metal of course, but as you say it's the limited time 3v3 PvP mode, and with this comes new legendary weapons, cosmetics and an updated event home, so we'll be able to unlock the Heavier Duty emblem for achieving rank 5, and A new sword holofoil available at rank 10, and a kinetic shotgun holofoil at rank 15. So this is the sword and shotgun, the assumption is that they can actually drop as post-match rewards or from engrams and things like that as well.

That's what the database indicates. And they do have some pretty interesting roles as we discussed in a separate video, so I'll link that down below if you want to check it out. On top of the other cosmetic rewards, it'll also be a chance to pick up the exotic sparrow from Heavy Metal, which of course comes with weapons on it, which is pretty interesting.

And finally, they say the game mode will last for 7 days on September 2nd up to September 9th. So they add, make sure you play it as it will no longer be possible to use or claim these items after the event ends. Otherwise, in terms of tiering information, whether this will work like Arms Week or a bit more like Solstice, we just don't know yet.

So I'll have to explore that when we get to Weekly Reset. And as always, I'll keep you posted. But let us know if you're down to jump into the slightly janky Heavy Metal mode this week when it returns. As for whether this will affect Trials returning this week, Bungie had said there will be 6 weeks of uninterrupted Trials weekends, so I believe that means Trials will still be back this coming weekend despite the fact that Heavy Metal is currently active. So no disruption on that front, and Bungie had also said they'll be adding a couple of additional weapons to the loot pool after Ash and Iron drops when it comes to Trials, so there'll be a few more things to go after starting with the September 9th update.

I'll keep you posted with the Eververse inventories and stuff after weekly reset on Tuesday, but outside of that, we get onto sort of legacy rotations. So when it comes to raids and dungeons, exotics don't appear to be farmable any longer from things like raids and dungeons. So if you're after farming the legendary loopholes or your one chance a week per character for exotic drops, that is still possible. But outside of that, there is currently no specific featured rotation for them. And the same of course applies to the majority of stuff on the traditional world tab.

The one thing we do get over here on the Dreaming City is the Ascendant Challenge, which some folks are still interested in. And this week it should be the Sumerian Garrison, which is accessible via the Chamber of Starlight over here. So if you want the location for that, we'll run some gameplay at the end of the video.
