Alright, I'm back with another Destiny 2 video. I had a few ideas for today, and then suddenly some weird thing happens where apparently we have a new faction rally. Sort of, but not really, it turns out. I will explain at least part of what's going on, because I don't fully know what's going on, but as of 2pm Eastern here, we know... Some things?

Okay, so this is something called Oath of the Renegades, where we have three new factions. I would argue that they're cooler, at least conceptually and in execution than the old factions. I think the last actual faction rally we had was in 2018. And then they were written out, I think in like season of the splicer in 21 outside of Lakshmi who survived and Maya Sundaresh.

Well, actually, I don't know if she survived, but Maya Sundaresh became a part of the plot, blah, blah, blah. Um, Those old ones were kind of like depositing, like completing activities, depositing tokens and getting loot. Not the most mechanically complex thing, but there was loot.

And this new one, Oath of the Renegades, is a quote, community slash creator event. And everyone was a bit skeptical with creators involved. In theory, I think this could have been a good concept, but in terms of how this is being executed today, Not so much. And also, I'm just sort of confused. So this is live and Bungie has said nothing official about this.

Like it went live at noon and then they launched a post that was like appreciation for Blue the Ghost or something. I believe this was like contracted to an outside party, but it is like a Bungie official post. thing for the season.

And all these creators got lined up. It's a couple dozen creators, at least some you've heard of some may you may not have heard of. And the idea is that Each of these creators are like lieutenants for a faction. And you go to this website is oath of the renegades dot com, a website that was and has been broken on and off since it was first discovered. And then you log in with your Bungie account.

You pick a team, which is the God, my God's name is the pikers, which is. hilariously the website everywhere mislabels the pickers uh as a typo so if you want to join the pickers um you can do that the arsons reformation the vex and then um totality division the cabal i joined the totality division i like them the best and they are apparently winning this thing judged by the leaderboards here and that's sort of what this is um So you pledge through one of these creators. You're on their like little unit team. I pledged through Scarrow.

I assume Scarrow's team was going to get a million points. And sure enough, they are. I think they're in the lead with X amount of points. What do we do?

Squadrons. Scarrow has 17,000 points followed by Benny at 8,500, following by Sweatsicle at 8,100, followed by Magdix at 7,500, followed by Zavala at 69. Okay. So that's the top five.

Um, And you get points. There are eight acts to this. New ones activate every couple of days with new challenges.

You get points through the screen that is... A bunch of directives essentially are just missions where it's like run a bunch of missions on Mars. Like all of this is a lot of this frontier for the most part. There's a couple of crucible ones like defeat guardians crucible when crucible matches.

So yeah, complete missions on Mars, defeat combatants on Mars, do invasions with a score of three or more perfect invasions, give you more points, kill things with a pulse rifle, kill things with a hand cannon. I assume that's in all this frontier. Maybe it's not. Maybe it's anywhere. And if you complete each of these things, you get a certain amount of points as you kind of level up to a max of 200 points per act.

I've been playing pretty much since reset and I have 270 points. Some people have like 800 and like, I don't quite know how that's possible, but here we are. And yeah, you may be wondering why we're doing this. And that's kind of the question because I don't, I don't really know. Yeah.

This is more of a community event, creator event, as it said, than an in-game event in terms of like what Faction Rally used to be, which is obviously pretty disappointing. I was hoping it would be some sort of in-game thing. Supposedly, this is from Scarrow, where even he's like, I don't know why Bungie's doing it like this, where they've just not really said anything. But all these creators, this is set up well ahead of time.

People are posting like hashtag ad. It's like a big sponsored campaign. confusing so i asked him if there were rewards he just said i know there's a storyline that gets affected by who wins each act and that the creators affiliated with that faction give a bunch get a bunch of stuff to give away i'm not 100 sure past that unfortunately so when creators give stuff away it's usually like emblems or something i don't know exactly all the stuff you can give away with twitch things but um That seems to be what's happening here. What does not seem to be happening here is that you're getting any sort of in-game gear from what we've heard about.

I think we know all the in-game gear for this season, either through it being announced or through data mining. And so this is not like the faction rallies of old where it's like, oh, you get a dead orbit themes armor set and then you get these weapons from the factions. And, you know, that created a lot of classics like hungary and stuff like that uh this is not really any of that it is not um something where you're going to be farming like it's not like call to arms where like you're getting scores and like you're getting specific weapon drops it's just sort of a community thing which i understand why some people are confused about this because nothing is announced about this in game um it's all like you have to be following someone on twitter or you have to be watching them on twitch or youtube or whatever in order to even know this is happening I would imagine Bungie has to talk about this at some point and kind of explain what it is. This was like shadow dropped more or less.

And usually when you shadow drop something, it's then time to talk about that thing. I know what's going to happen is that I'm going to be saying this and then destiny is going to post something and be like, Oh, here's the big explanation for this. But no, they have not.

The destiny two team account has not posted anything since December 5th. And let's check the destiny accounts one more time. 19 minutes ago, they posted something about the abilities for the Wallace Frontier and they should get you to buy Destiny 2 Renegades available now.

So they're not they're not talking about it. I don't know. It's kind of a bummer.

All this setup with the points, the website, that's fine. I think that's fine. I just wish there was something more meaningful in game and something, I guess, more structured than what we're seeing here.

Uh, the, the leaderboard is, is, can be kind of fun. It already very much seems like the palady division is probably going to win. If this is contracted by like a third party making this thing independently of Bungie, uh, This does seem like something you would contract out, you know, with Bungie doing a million things.

I'm wondering if they have waited this for population because I think totality is going to have the most people join overall. And that may just dictate that they went automatically. That's why they wait stuff in like Guardian games between the classes because there's like 50 percent hunters in this game.

So I don't know if they've done that. You know, it's once the site's actually working, it's actually OK. I got logged out somehow.

Yeah. And I'm curious to see if I can move up in the rankings or whatever, but that's kind of it. So if you're looking for something pretty significant here, if there's story stuff that drops after every act, that would be interesting. But I don't know exactly what he means by storyline things that update because there's no storyline thing starting this.

As far as I can tell, maybe something was supposed to go live in the game, but didn't. But yeah. We just don't have very much information now.

I'm trying to explain at least best I know what's going on here, but it is deeply confusing to try and understand what this is, what this is supposed to be. And you can start it. I mean, just go to that website, pick your creator person, pick your faction, I guess, pick my faction.

But. We'll have to keep going on this. And I wrote about this today because I thought it was something that just leaked because the website went live early and I'm like, oh, we're going to do faction rally in the future.

And then it was like two hours later. So yeah, Um, we'll see what happens. Maybe the stuff that they give away is going to be cool and worth it and it will actually be worth grinding.

So your team wins or something. I think I normally don't like community events because it always seems just sort of rigged and like they don't want anyone to lose. So I think that can be kind of lame.

Um, but even if this was something like whichever faction wins is like, gets double ingots for a day or something like it, any sort of in-game bonus or benefit, I think would be cool. Like, because that technically would translate to more loot drops for whatever period the act is or something. Um, even if they're not, you know, they're not gonna be handing out cabal themed hung juries or anything. I, I don't think they're in the position to do that anymore, but something needs to happen in the game.

That isn't just creators giving out emblems on stream. So, uh, That's what we know for now. I will update this post or this video with like a comment or something.

If Bungie chimes in, if it's a ton of stuff, then maybe I'll do another video today or tomorrow. But as of right now, if you're confused or did not know this existed, I would not blame you. Yeah.
