Destiny 2 Latest Updates and News
What's up guys? Houndish here and today we're jumping in with some Destiny 2 news, a couple of updates, as well as new answers from Bungie regarding some burning questions about Edge of Fate and the Year of Prophecy. So, they speak about Vault Space, updates to the UI, the new power cap, and how the Portal and Traditional Director will work. On top of that, they try and settle some nerves around the Star Wars themed Renegades expansion, or should we say Star Wars inspired. We'll also take a better look at some rewards coming up in the next expansion, and we'll speak about right of the nine, a hidden area, upcoming quest objectives, access to dungeon exotics, fixes for the quests that have dropped this week, and a few other things in the video. So, if you enjoy this one, please do us a favor and get subscribed to the channel. Otherwise though, let's get into it. First up, regarding those weapon quests at the Emissary of the Nine that wouldn't complete. This was affecting explorer difficulties specifically. D2 team have said, "We've issued a serverside change that should unblock progress on Ride of the Nine quests within Explorer difficulties. And through next Tuesday, all players can receive an additional reward when defeating the final boss and completing the dungeon. So, the quest should be working. Plus, we get a bonus drop there, which is nice. Some players have managed to get into a hidden area inside of the third spire. Actually, one that used to be accessible through Trials of the Nine. And of course, we see this area at the end of the Prophecy dungeon. This time though, weapon attunement is still an option. Obviously, this vendor doesn't appear to be in use yet. But there's a big circle with plints for the various weapons. And you can access and interact with the vendor, which is the same version that we get in the normal third spire, but it's interesting that this area is still here and has been updated and perhaps could be tied to some upcoming content that we'll see for right of the nine. We do know there's something called a dungeon gauntlet, which seems to be a specific version of Ride of the Nine, where you can essentially play through all of the dungeons or maybe mix up and select encounters, more like what we had in Pantheon. It isn't available yet, but might get us access to some of the other rewards at a later date. And looking at the database, we can see an expanded view of the emissaries inventory, all of the weapon quests at the bottom that will roll out week over week, as well as some additional emblem rewards, weapons, and even access to the Spy of the Watcher and Ghost of the Deep exotics, as well as the Galah Horn catalyst. There'll be a quest at some point called crossing the threshold to complete any Ride of the Nine dungeon in any mode, and the reward for that will indeed enable exotic selection, basically allowing us to pick one of those exotics up. So, a reliable route to those exotics is coming for any folks who need a catchup. Otherwise, as we discussed yesterday, we can earn adept and shiny variants of all of the weapons through multiple means. So, they're not tied exclusively to the Ultimator mode, although that will be the best place to farm them. You can still get them from the chests in Eternity, secret chests inside of the dungeons, and potentially even from encounter drops. So, that's pretty cool. And if you want a guide and a breakdown of all of the weapon rolls, I'll link my video from yesterday down below. Next up though, let's speak a bit about Year of Prophecy. Firstly, following the Renegades reveal, which is a Star Wars inspired DLC, there are a few concerns about how this might affect the story and content delivery. Robbie Stevens from Bungie said, "Rest assured, everything in Renegades is canon for the Destiny universe, but we're leaning into the aesthetic, tone, and vibe of Star Wars to tell a story with Destiny characters." On top of that, the description for Renegades says, "Dive into the criminal underworld and take down an evil empire, venture into a lawless frontier, and reveal deeper mysteries about a new dredgen in Soul." So, it certainly sounds like an interesting concept. I can understand the concerns, though. Obviously, with this being a collaboration with Star Wars, I can see why players would worry that that might influence Bungie too much in a direction which isn't really authentic Destiny, I guess, and I totally get that. My concern is also the potential cheesiness of it, but I'm open to the idea. Let us know your thoughts on that down below. In terms of questions regarding some of the systems that Bungie showed off for the next year, though, Pyro asked, "Is power level resetting with max at 300 as shown in the reveal?" D2 team said we'll have more details on power caps and climbs in a future twid, but we can confirm that power will be squished at launch. All players will have their power refreshed as we embark on this new journey. So, it will be kind of a fresh start in terms of power by the looks of things. Players also said, "Please don't get rid of the director star map, given that we're getting the portal, and that's going to be the new sort of starting tab for the game in general." The D2 team said the director will continue to be available through a worlds tab next to the portal. The goal with the portal is to get a more streamlined experience for all players to find the fun quickly and understand what's next for them to do in Destiny. Importantly though, the traditional director map will still be available. Otherwise, if you have pre-ordered, those items are now available, including new land beyond. And Bungie say pre-order items can be picked up from the special deliveries kiosk located in the tower. If you purchase the expansion while you've actually got the game running, though, you will probably have to sign out or restart the game in order to get them to show up there. So, keep it in mind and give us any impressions you have on New Land Beyond down below. On the subject of vault space, though, the D2 team said vault space is not changing in Edge of Fate, but we do have additional vault space and quality of life features planned for Renegades later this year. So, they'd already sort of indicated this a few months back that they were targeting the end of 2025 for some upgrades there. We don't know what they will consist of yet, but it appears to still be on the road map at the very least, and I'll keep you posted if we hear any more. Players also asked what's with the ammo bars at the bottom of the weapon UI overlay. And I guess looking at it, it appears to be a quick ammo meter that represents your actual capacity of ammo versus how much you're carrying. D2 team said though there'll be a few changes coming in July between stats and UI, and they'll again be breaking these down in more detail soon. So, there's been a lot to kind of sink our teeth into and get our heads around. Personally, I'm looking forward to some of the sort of event style content that Bungie have indicated we'll get. Arms week will be a cool one and they've said it will be a week-long event focused on a single weapon archetype launching alongside a new area in the tower which is the shooting range. And we got a quick preview of that in the stream yesterday. But especially if we're going to get brand new weapons uniquely designed for Arms week, but certainly has the potential to mix things up on those quieter weeks in seasons that we currently have and get players back into the game in potentially sort of short bursts even when there's not a lot of other stuff going on. Looking at the year as a whole though, important dates right here. Edge of Fate will be July 15th and Renegades, as Bungie say, is winter 2025. It actually drops on the 2nd of December. Then in 2026, the two expansions will include Shattered Cycle and the Alchemist. We should keep in mind though, September 9th is when we'll get the Ash and Iron update, which will be a new sort of seasonal event or major update for the game. That's the one that will return us to the plague glands as Bungie outlined to pick up from where Edge of Fate leaves off. And they say there'll be a new activity called Reclaim. So, I'm wondering if some Sver vibes will play into this. I'm sure they will to some extent, but that's also when we'll get a new exotic mission. Bungie actually said there'll be two new exotic weapons in that update as well. So, that's September 9th, and the next major update, which will be after the winter DLC, will be in March of 2026. So, we have a pretty in-depth calendar really, I guess, for the next year. Now, other highlights that Bungie point out here is that Kepler, the destination for Edge of Fate, will feature world tiers highlighting escalating combat and puzzle difficulty with increased rewards. They also share here Fallen Corsa, which will be a new flying unit, a fallen enemy, which is pretty wild. Plus, they tease a new Vex enemy called Cobalts, and the fact that rewards will now progress up to five tiers. Each tier will have better stats, perks, and provide more bonuses than the previous one. And we see armor here in a bit more detail. So, we can see the set bonus perks at the bottom, as well as new upgrade nodes, mod slots, and the stat rework, which now references health, melee, grenade, super, class, and weapons. Not sure how all of that's going to work, but outside of that, of course, the same will apply to weapons. This one with enhanced perks in every single slot. So, that includes the origin trait, barrels, and magazines, plus an enhanced mod there. By the looks of it, I think that's an adept mod. If you're curious about the blue icon or watermark on the weapon as well, Bungie had said previously that this represents new gear or what Bungie are referring to as new gear, which helps players understand when they're looking at something very new and relevant or perhaps something a bit older. And I believe they'll keep these blue watermarks for either 3 months until the next major update or 6 months until the next DLC before reverting to a more sort of standard watermark. So, just a couple of extras in terms of rewards there. Also some very cool artwork for Edge of Fate with the emissary, the train that smashes through the portals at the start of the trailer. And of course, the new character Loi was part of that, or Loi, should I say. Also, if you remember those leaks about this expansion from October of last year, it's insane just how correct they were. Basically, bangon 100%. Separately, though, we can see Guardians with new gear here as well. And I got to say, the weapon design actually is pretty awesome. Certainly something a bit different. Both the geometry and the skins and colors certainly look pretty neat. So there we go guys. That's what we have to speak about for today. Give us impressions on the expansion stuff. Ride of the nine if you've jumped into that yet or any other elements that you're excited about. If you found this video helpful, a rating below really does help us on the channel as well. But otherwise, I appreciate you tuning in and I hope you guys have an awesome day.
