A warning is issued to Destiny 2 players regarding exotic armor changes coming with the Edge of Fate expansion, emphasizing the continued value of high-stat exotics and cautioning against deleting them.
Exotic Armor Stat Changes in Edge of Fate
- Exotic armor will not participate in the new tier system; there will be no tier 5 exotics.
- New exotic armor will drop with archetype-based stat spikes (Brawler, Paragon, Grenadier, etc.).
- These exotics will roll between 58–63 total stats, equivalent to "tier 2."
- Masterworking the new exotics will add up to +15 stats (5 each to three off-spike stats).
- The highest possible total after masterworking is 78, assuming a perfect 63 base stat.
Comparison to Current Exotic Armor
- Existing exotic armor can have higher total stats than new drops after Edge of Fate.
- Example: A current 69-stat Armamentarium masterworked reaches 81 total stats.
- Artifice Armor mod slots on current exotics will remain, giving further stat advantages.
- New Armor 3.0 exotics will not have Artifice Armor mod slots unless Bungie changes this before release.
Implications for Players
- High-stat exotics (66+) in your inventory can outperform anything obtainable after Edge of Fate goes live.
- Deleting high-stat exotics now is strongly discouraged as they will retain or exceed future value.
- The new system does offer guaranteed stat spikes for specific playstyles, but total stats may be lower.
- Players seeking very high specific stats (like 200 melee) may benefit from new archetype rolls but lose some overall stats.
Recommendations / Advice
- Retain all exotic armor with high total stats, especially those with Artifice mod slots.
- Consider the balance between stat spikes from new 3.0 armor and overall stat total from legacy pieces.
- Monitor for possible Bungie updates that could raise future exotic stat caps or mod slot availability.
Questions / Follow-Ups
- Will Bungie make changes to the exotic armor cap or Artifice mod slot inclusion before Edge of Fate launches?
- Are there future plans to allow higher-tier exotic armor drops?

But bungie also reveals the new Edge of Fate Season Pass (Rewards Pass), as well as new Ability Buffs and Nerfs! BUT today we are talking about an incredibly important tip involving what Exotic Armor you should keep going into the Edge of Fate! And many people are deleting things they absolutely shouldn't be!

Exotic Armor Changes in Destiny 2
What is up guys, it's your boy Rick Kakas and today I have a massive PSA involving exotic armor because apparently a bunch of people are about to make a huge mistake and hurt their accounts leading into the edge of fate. Now what the heck am I talking about? Well, let's get started. Now this all begins yesterday when I made my Xur inventory review video. And at Xur, still at Xur right now, there is an armamentarium with incredibly high stats.
69 overall with a massive discipline spike. And obviously I said, well this is pretty good, you might want to pick it up. Then I scrolled down to the comments. First of all, I encountered one of the most Titan main things of all time, and I say that as a Titan main, where someone is saying, what the heck is a crayon-eating Titan going to do with 16 mobility?
As I literally explain in the video that mobility is turning into the weapon stat which will influence how much damage you deal against enemies. So yeah, you're gonna want some mobility in the Edge of Fate guys. But regardless, the next thing I saw was two identical comments. Two different people both saying...
Why would I pick this up? It's going to be irrelevant in the Edge of Fate. But guys, not only is this not true, like your exotic armor won't become irrelevant, but actually because of a recent announcement by Bungie, your exotic armor might be better than anything you can get in the Edge of Fate. But why is that?
Well, first of all, it's understandable why these people thought that because a lot of your gear is being power-crapped and will eventually become irrelevant after the Edge of Fate. For weapons, Tier 5 weapons have everything enhanced as you can see and so if they can get the same role as weapons that exist in the game right now, eventually when you start to get your hands on these Tier 5 weapons, they will just be outright more powerful, right? Same thing for the most part with legendary armor, right? A tier 5 armor piece, as you can see, is going to have a set bonus. It's going to have 11 energy.
It's going to have potentially way more stats. And so again, it's going to eventually displace your legendary armor in the game right now. But what about exotics? Well, Bungie recently announced in the most recent weekly update, this Thursday's TWiD, what they're doing with exotics.
Guys, exotics are not part of this tiering system. You will not get a tier 5 exotic. You're just going to get an exotic armor piece or an exotic weapon and it is what it is, right?
And so that means for exotic armor, What is happening in the Edge of Fate? Well, it will start to drop as one of the armor archetypes, right? So it will be Brawler, Paragon, Grenadier, etc.
Where you have a designated main spike and a designated secondary spike and then a completely random tertiary spike, right? So it will start to drop in these archetypes. But what is the stat range of these drops?
Well, Bungie said, as you can see right here, their stats will roll as if they were tier 2, which is a 58 to 63 total stat line. So, in the Edge of Fate, the highest total stats you will ever see with an exotic armor piece is 63. Now, that doesn't sound very good, but the very next line is, well, once it's masterworked, it will be much more comparable with the best possible rolls that armor can get right now. But is that true?
Well, here's how masterworking actually works in the Edge of Fate. When you apply, you know, one masterwork and you can go up to five, it gives you one stat each. In each of the three stats that aren't your main stat, so that aren't your primary, secondary, or tertiary stat, it gives plus one. You masterwork it again and again and again, and eventually it will give plus five to each of those three stats, again, that aren't the primary, secondary, or tertiary stats.
So that means you get plus 15 total stats. Whereas right now when you fully masterwork an exotic armor piece, you're gonna get +12 by giving everything +2, right? So that is more stats, but if we do some simple math 63 + 15 is 78 right?
That's the maximum you can get in terms of stats ever on an exotic armor drop in the Edge of Fate is 78 total stats. And again, that's if you get the best possible 63 max of the range, guys. It's very possible you get a 58, a 59 stat armor piece, right?
So, All of this means that if you have very high stat armor in the game right now, it actually could be better than anything you can get in the Edge of Fate going forward. And here is a direct comparison. This is a Worm God Caress I got when playing the Edge of Fate.
As you can see, it dropped in the Brawler archetype. It has 61 total stats, and yes, it has a massive spike to melee and health. That's the advantage of the armor 3.0 system and the archetypes, you get these guaranteed ginormous stats.
But when I fully masterworked this armor piece, as you can see, I get those +5 stats to super class and weapons, and so overall, it's a 76 total, right? But if we look at the Worm God Caress I have in-game right now, it's a 78 stat. So it's actually more than the Armor 3.0 version. Now, yes, I didn't get the max roll of the Armor 3.0 version, but on the version I have right now, I also have access to an Artifice Armor mod slot. And that is not present on the Armor 3.0 version.
Yes, unless Bungie changes something before release, the new Armor 3.0 versions of Exotics will not have an Artifice Armor mod slot. And in the Legendary Realm of Things, when you get to Tier 5, you get a tuning mod where you can give it... Plus five to a certain stat and then get minus five to another stat or give it plus one To the three stats that aren't your primary secondary or tertiary so you can make up for stats that way But again in terms of exotics You're kind of just losing out on stats. And so We kind of come full circle.
And if we look at that 69 stat armamentarium This is why I was telling you guys to maybe get this darn thing, because if you masterwork it, you go all the way up to an 81 stat. This is outright better than anything you can get in terms of total stats from the Edge of Fate Armor 3.0 system in terms of exotics, right? And we haven't even counted the Artifice Armor mod slot, right, that you will be getting.
I think the Artifice Armor will carry forward. That mod slot will exist in the Edge of Fate. It's going away for the exotic class items, but they're becoming Armor 3.0 automatically. So they're getting like tons of stats.
So I can't complain about that. Like tons of free stats there. But yeah, guys, like this is the PSA.
The most you can possibly get, again, in Armor 3.0, if you get a 63 high stat and then Master Work it, is 78. Which means... In order to get the same total stats right now, you need a 66, plus 12 for Masterworking, that is also 78. And again, that's not counting the Artifice Armor mod slot, which puts it even more over the edge. But again, that means if you have a 67, a 68, 69, or heck, even a 70 stat exotic...
you absolutely do not want to delete these. Clearly people think all their exotics are just becoming useless. That is not the case. Again, in terms of total stats, they are potentially better than anything you can possibly get.
So please guys, hold on to your extremely high stat exotics. And also hopefully Bungie changes this. Like why is the cap a tier two they said that maybe in the future there's going to be ways to get higher tier exotics but I mean as it is right now your high stat exotics are extremely valuable going into the edge of fate you won't just be able to one for one replace them right now there will be a reason to convert certain exotics into armor 3.0 at 801 and stuff like that. And that is if you want those guaranteed massive spikes, if you have exotic armor that does have a high stat, but isn't spiky at all, and you really want to get to 200, you know, melee or 200 grenade or whatever, you are going to want to dive into the armor 3.0 system and get those massive spikes. But if you already have high stat spiky armor and you like your artifice armor mod slot, keep them.
That is it for the video guys. I hope you enjoyed and found this informative. If you did, please remember to help me out by simply rating and especially sharing this video.
