Destiny 2 Edge of Fate Campaign Overview

Overview

Early gameplay impressions and narrative summary of Destiny 2's Edge of Fate campaign's first mission, "The Invitation," introducing new mechanics, destination, enemies, and major story mysteries set for release July 15th.

Introduction to Edge of Fate

  • The campaign introduces a new playable destination, Kepler, with unique visual and atmospheric elements.

  • Players encounter a new stasis-arc combo exotic hand cannon and additional new weapons.

  • Bungie emphasizes a unique campaign experience, featuring puzzles and mechanics not seen before in Destiny 2.

New Enemies and Gameplay Mechanics

  • Corsair Fallen units debut as jetpack-flying enemies with dynamic attacks and death interactions.

  • Modified enemies, such as Strand Pike-wielding wretches and House of Exile captains with stasis fan blades, enhance combat variety.

  • A new campaign-specific ability, Matter Spark, lets Guardians transform, navigate puzzles, and interact with electrical relays.

  • Four campaign difficulty tiers, with increased challenge and impact of enemy abilities at higher tiers.

Story Setup and Major Mysteries

  • Kepler is threatened by a growing singularity (black hole) core, risking universal catastrophe.

  • A distress call leads the Guardian to investigate a missing civilization and a mysterious figure named Loi.

  • Signals reference the "Odysius Protocol," linking to Destiny lore and Greek mythology themes of being lost and trying to return home.

  • Loi appears displaced in time, possibly from 1980s/1990s Earth, with temporal anomalies evident in his experience.

The Nine and Narrative Tension

  • Direct, though silent, communication from members of the Nine is highlighted—circumventing the usual Emissary.

  • The Emissary's resignation means the Nine are now engaging directly, raising questions about their power and intentions.

  • The Nine are described as extradimensional entities tied to the gravity of solar system bodies.

  • Dramatic irony exists as players know the Emissary’s status, while in-game characters do not.

House of Exile and New Factions

  • The House of Exile—Fallen exiles without a known leader—show signs of unique leadership through an Archon Prime.

  • The Archon's voice transmits through multiple vessels, seemingly empowered by dark matter and linked to the singularity.

  • The Archon prophesizes the "deathless" (Guardians) arrival and seeks to "strengthen the singularity" against them.

Time Anomalies and Meeting Loi

  • Time-stamped transmissions and Loi's personal experience show time distortion effects near the singularity.

  • Loi identifies himself as an investigator of temporal anomalies, residing with the Ionians, a local scientific community.

  • Narrative hints suggest Loi was summoned or displaced via mysterious means, with unclear links to the Nine or the singularity.

Armor Set Bonuses and Buildcrafting

  • All new armor sets in Edge of Fate feature set bonuses that affect gameplay, enhancing buildcrafting depth.

Open Questions and Ongoing Mysteries

  • The full influence and objectives of the Nine, the true nature of Loi and the singularity, and the evolving role of familiar characters remain unresolved.

  • Time distortions and dark matter's real function in the conflict are central narrative threads for future missions.

Destiny 2 Edge of Fate Campaign Overview

Hey y'all, Bactics here with an early look of the very first mission of the brand new Edge of Fate campaign and subsequently the first mission of the new Fate saga, both arriving to Destiny 2 on July 15th. Now, whilst this is going to contain a couple of spoilers, I still recommend you watch it because honestly, you're going to leave this with far more questions than answers. And if you're anything like me, it's just going to make you even more excited to try out the Edge of Fate campaign and unravel all of its mysteries and go on all of its adventures. Alternatively, if you're someone who's kind of on the fence about whether or not you want to jump into the Edge of Fate and purchase the Edge of Fate expansion, this will be perfect for you because you'll get a taste of the new destination, a little taste of the narrative, little taste of the story, and a little taste of the gameplay to see if any of it pies your interest. And the gameplay is a really important part of this. Bungie has pulled out all the stops for this campaign and created a genuinely unique experience that we have never seen before in Destiny 2. And it's really, really something special. we'll talk more about as we get into the mission and show it off. But for now, this is the brand new destination Kepler. It's got a really cool backdrop. You got this big aircraft carrier in the background. Very mystical and ethereal energy waves going through the sky. In our hands is one of the brand new exotic weapons as well. It's a stasis arc combo hand cannon. If you want to see more about it and a bunch of the other new weapons in the Edge of Fate, check out my channel or my Edge of Fate playlist. I show off a ton of them. But we're going to adventure over here and something's going to fly right in front of our face. Watch your head. I've never seen a litany move like this. Mind their vertical, guardian. And I'm going to shut up while there's dialogue going on so you guys can hear it clearly. But this is one of the many brand new enemies in the Edge of Fate. This is the Corsair Fallen units. They fly around on jetpacks and they're really, really cool. They have this like ground slam if you get a little too close to them. They have these really cool like death interactions if you shoot them in a particular spot to kill them and just got like a lot of really really cool stuff going on and they really spice up the combat gameplay specifically. There's a bunch of other new enemy types as well that we'll talk about as we get into this mission. Some of them are reserved for later missions so we won't quite get to all of them but couple brand new enemy types. Unfortunately, not an entire brand new enemy race, but I feel like happy medium with at least a couple of brand new units because they do spice up the gameplay pretty significantly. So, we're going to clear out the Corsaires right now. This mission, like I said, is called the invitation. And so, we're kind of adventuring through Kepler just trying to understand why we're here and what's going on and how like what role we play on Kepler, what we have to do, how we need to assist. And as we go forward a little bit here, I apologize. I'm messing around with a little bit of the keybinds. Making sure my recording sends are all good. I was on one of Bungie setups, so wasn't at my making sure my keybinds are the way I want them to be. Mayday, mayday transmitting. Strange matter detected. Singularity opening near local hi and nhi population. I can't tell when this mayday was sent. Whoever made it understands the danger this place is in, but this signal is too weak to have reached us on Earth. This isn't our invitation. And so, a couple of pieces of dialogue right there. The very first piece of dialogue that we actually hear directly from Loi, one of the brand new characters in the Edge of Fate. And Iora says something particularly interesting. It looks like we've got a blockade up ahead about them understanding the danger this place is in. So, what's currently going on and why we're on Kepler in the first place is there is a black hole singularity forming inside the core of the planet that if left uncheck is going to wreak havoc on the universe and potentially end everything as we know it. So, we're pulled up on Kepler to figure out what's going on, see what role we have to play in stopping it or preventing it, and just trying to even figure out like what's going on with it in the first place. Obviously, we know the nine are kind of meddling around a little bit, so you know, you'll just you'll wait for a couple more pieces of dialogue and uh you'll you'll get a better idea of kind of what's going on with this black hole singularity situation. But at the current moment, I want to talk about the enemy that you're seeing on screen right now. Technically not a brand new enemy as we do have wretches in the game already, but a revision to an existing enemy. You notice they have these like strand pikes. They kind of work like mini fail length shields basically. And I couldn't really get any of it to work out in this footage, but I know in past gameplay uh other times that I've fought against these dudes, if you hit them in a certain way or kill them in a certain way, you can actually make the strand on their pikes explode and use it against them and then it'll suspend them and kind of any nearby enemies that are also chilling right next to them. So, another way to spice up the gameplay. A couple new enemy types and whatnot. So, we've cleared out these enemies initially. We're going to kind of poke around and we see AIA. We're going to go and have a chat with her, see what's up. A singularity, a distress call, and now another ancient train. But how do they all connect? More importantly, how can we help? The status of the singularity will worsen with time. We can't do anything about that right this moment. But discovering a locking mechanism this complex and a radio transmission that sounds human means we could be on the precipice of encountering another pocket of civilization. By my triage, the most effective thing we can do right now is find the source of the distress signal. The trail we're following leads past the train, then scatters. We'll need to get through to find who called for help. The mechanism here appears to be missing some pieces. I've tracked materials nearby that closely match the frequency of the device. Find them, Guardian. So, effectively, we're going to roam around the planet and try and figure out how we can get into contact with the person who sent the distress signal, aka Loi, and he's about to drop a bombshell on us. Modi transmitting status moon sick a drift Odysius protocol active Odysius protocol we've heard that before wait there's a backlog keep moving guardian I'm going to see if these transmissions can give us any more information so that piece of dialogue is kind of a bombshell but we're going to press pause on that for a little bit before we start diving into it and talking about it because we're about to encounter some additional spooky up right now. Your vital stabilized. Must be a fluke. So, that was one of the members of the nine communicating with us right there. If you paid close attention to the top right of the screen, you would have seen that it said seven in Roman numerals. So presumably that is the seventh member of the nine. But we're going to press pause about talking about that for just a brief moment cuz I want to direct your attention to what's about to happen right now because this is one of the many Edge of Fate campaign specific abilities that makes this campaign so unique and really sets the gameplay a cut above from a lot of other campaigns by creating a lot of interesting puzzle-like encounters and experiences throughout the campaign missions. This is Matter Spark. Well, this sure is new. All your vitals appear to be in order, but your molecules are moving unbelievably fast. Guardian, this energy pattern is distinct from your expected paracausal signature. It matches the dark matter readings from when we landed. It appears you've managed to somehow fuse with dark matter. And so, as you can see, as I said, we fused with dark matter. And that gives us access to multiple different types of abilities all throughout the Kepler destination in the Edge of Fate campaign that lead to a lot of very unique gameplay experiences that we've never had before. So, for example, Matter Spark right here allows us to transform into this very tiny, very fast ball that allows us to get inside all these nooks and crannies and do all these navigational type puzzles to create a lot of depth in the environment when we're walking through these campaign missions. And when you combine this little matter spark ball with a couple of the other abilities that we're going to get throughout the campaign, it just leads to some really cool gameplay experiences and encounter design that we've never really seen in any campaign before. With the Matter Spark Ball, you also have this cool little like dash that you can do around. You can charge up these electrical arc relays to open certain doors or empower certain things on the map. And it just leads to a very in-depth and more engaged gameplay experience contrasted to the run-of-the-mill way we typically do past campaigns where we just kind of like walk through, kill a room of enemies, walk through, kill the next room of enemies, and so on and so forth. So, as we adventure out here, we're going to kill this exile overseer boss and we're going to fight him for a little bit. And it is at this time that I want to go back to one of the pieces of dialogue that Loi actually mentioned where he spoke specifically about being moonsick a drift and engaging the Odysius protocol. What's so cool about this voice line is even though we haven't heard it directly from Loi's mouth in the past, we've heard this transmission before specifically in the Vesper Host dungeon. So, if you interacted with some of the lore interactables in the Vesper's Host dungeon, the AI that kind of powers the Vesper's Host facility. I apologize if I'm getting some of the fine details wrong. I'm no bite, but I'm going to do my absolute best to kind of explain what's going on. In Vesper's Host, the AI noted to us that they received a transmission that specifically noted being Moonick a drift. They said Loi transmitting and they said Adysius Protocol. And so Odysius is a Greek mythological character um that went and fought in the Trojan War. And the interesting thing about Odysius is he traveled away from his kingdom to go and fight in the Trojan War. And the thing about Odysius is it took him a very very long time to get back home. I think it was like 10 years it took him to try and get back home across the uh ANC. I believe I'm saying that correctly. because his journey was filled with all these types of distractions and he just he could not find his way home. And so this Loi character that Bungie has stated very clearly many times, the narrative director Allison Lur said he was like a fish out of water. He's in a place where he's not supposed to be. And many people have astutely already noted that Loi doesn't really look like a character that belongs in Destiny. So, it's interesting that we have this like 1980s looking 9-to-f5 office worker in Destiny who's saying these things about the Odysius Protocol being active, saying things like moon sick a drift. I don't know about you guys, but when I hear moonsick, the very first thing I think of is being homesick, but like the space version of it. So, it kind of implies that Loi is like seemingly this guy from like 1980s, 1990s Earth who somehow someway ended up on Kepler in our current timeline. and he's kind of trying to find his way home like Odysius was, but he either can't find his way home or he's unable to start and try and figure out and find his way home because he's encumbered by distractions such as the black hole singularity that's going on in the core of Kepler. So, it's really really cool because it it has this call back to Vesper's host. Clearly, the story line has been in the works for quite some time and it just tells us so much about Loi uh and kind of like where he could have come from, what his deal is, what his background is and it kind of gives a lot of really interesting and weird implications about like what could be going on in this planet where someone could have potentially been effectively timetraveled and moved away from their timeline to end up in this situation. And what is having that effect? It could be the black hole singularity because black holes do have a property where they can like they have this gravitational manipulation that can actually bend and mess with time. You could also make the argument very clearly the nine have some sort of influence going on right here as we just encountered uh a sort of conversation I would say with one of them. I guess it wasn't really a conversation because interestingly the nine don't actually speak to us. At least they don't talk to us. Um, as you could see in the little nine blur popup, it was there wasn't any actual audio. We saw the subtitles, so we know technically what the member of the nine was saying to us, but we didn't hear what they were saying to us. Interestingly, now this might be because the nine typically use the emissary to communicate to us with a bit of dramatic irony currently going on here that you'll see in a brief moment is that we are unaware that the emissary has kind of quit her job. Anyone who saw the edge of fate reveal at the very beginning, that very first cut scene that they showed, we saw the emissary kind of hearing a message from the nine that they were to deliver to us and she basically shed her nine skin and basically quit. She said, "You, you know, you want to tell them you want fine, you know, you can have someone deliver your message, but it's not going to be me." So, it's very interesting because it might be possible that the the nine were technically always capable of communicating with us. It's just that they never really had to because they always had the emissary to communicate with us for them. And now that the emissary has effectively quit her job, even though our guardian and IIcora and everyone in within the game doesn't really know that yet, we as players do know that. So, it kind of leads like were the nine always capable of communicating with us in this manner? where the 9 is capable of reaching out to us and it's, you know, just now that the emissary has quit, they no longer have a vehicle to communicate to us. Now they're kind of actually interacting with us and engaging with us directly. There's just, like I said, this poses so many more questions than it poses answers. And it's one of the narratives that I'm really excited to explore when it comes to the Edge of Fate campaign. And it's one of the reasons that I I recommended you all watch this video cuz even though there is a couple of spoilers which makes you so pumped for all the different things that can be going on train to invite us to a black hole. It seems whoever sent our invitation values consistency and catastrophic interference about that. I got info, but you're not going to like it. Try me. The gravimetric distortions, the dark matter, the weird train. an invitation. There's only one group of jokers I know who get up to those kinds of theatrics. The nine. Well, that certainly is a theory. Although, I would expect to have already heard from the emissary if that was the case. So, now the drifter hops in and says, "Guys, I only know one group of people that kind of operate like this, and it's the nine." And it's kind of a call back to Heresy where we literally just finished the chesty puzzle where we effectively went to Aerys's throne world and we were messing around with some chess pieces to unlock a cutscene which allowed us to interact with the Drifter and he kind of vaguely hinted at his dealings with the Nine. He is one of the few people in the universe who does have direct dealings with them. They stuck that barge on the back of his ship where we access the prophecy dungeon. And he told us in that cutscene, Guardian, there's something throwing rocks at our window. Aicora also says something particularly interesting, mentioning that she would have expected to heard from expected to have heard from the emissary by now if the Nine were indeed involved in something like this. But a little bit of dramatic irony, like we said, something we as players know that the Guardian and Icora and Drifter and all them does not know is that the emissary is not the emissary anymore. She quit. She's done. She bounced. So, how is that going to unravel? How is that going to unfold? Unsure yet. Like I said, this is going to leave a lot more questions than answers. Honestly, let me know what your theory is about all this stuff. Like, what do you think is going to happen? Leave a comment down below and tell me what you think. I'm going to rerun the telemetry to see if I can find another radio transmission. Get us some answers. Achieved precarious stabilization, but still request evacuation due to hostile NHI. If we can't close the singularity, we're pulling everyone in with us. Anyone you out there? Odd. The time stamp on this transmission doesn't make sense. It comes after the Mayday, but the time stamp says it was recorded many months before. Either someone is intentionally trying to scramble these transmissions or the singularity is causing more problems than we thought. So, right here, Aicora makes another interesting note. this Mayday transmission that we just received. Very, very interesting because the timestamp of that Mayday transmission from a timeline perspective doesn't make sense considering the time stamp of the original transmission alerting us of the singularity. Noting that it could be the singularity messing with time, which as we know, black holes and that kind of stuff. They do the gravitational poles of them can mess with time. It also could be some influence of the nine. It also could be a combination of the two where the reason that the singularity even exists in the first place is due to some influence of the nine. So again, like I said, it's just a lot more questions than answers. And it's stuff like this that makes me really excited for the Edge of Fate campaign and really excited to explore all of the other missions and listen to the dialogue of a lot of the other missions. I've played some of the other missions. We were allowed to play a ton of the different missions at the capture event, but Bungie specifically asked us not to have any dialogue on or any subtitles on for any of the subsequent missions that we've played. So, from a pure narrative perspective, I'm basically right here with you guys in terms like I don't really know what's going on and there's a lot of mysteries being unraveled, a lot of questions popping up. What is the N's, you know, influence? What did the Nine have to do with this? What does Loi's influence? What does he have to do with this? Um, how is Drifter going to play into it as someone who has a little bit more experience with the Nine than the rest of us? How is the emissary going to play into it? Not being the emissary anymore. When are we going to even figure out that she's not the emissary anymore? So much interesting stuff going on in this very first mission that really kind of blows the doors wide open. No sign of mass casualty. Clear out the rest of these. With any luck, we'll learn more about what happened here. And so now we see another not brand new enemy, but a modification to an existing enemy that makes the gameplay feel a little spicier, a little different. This is one of the captains of the House of Exile. And what's cool about them is you'll notice they have this like stasis like katana, I believe it's called. No, not katana. That's the name of the Mortal Kombat character. this like stasis like fan blade attached to their gun, which is really really cool cuz it can absorb bullets. Um, but what's cool about this little stasis fan blade thing is that if you shoot it enough, you can actually break it so that you have a clear shot on the captain. Um, it will regenerate over time, but then obviously you can break it again. But the fan blade is attached to the captain's gun, so you actually don't necessarily have to break it. If you're able to like flinch the captain, for example, and they lower their gun down to their hip, then the fan blade, which is attached to the gun, will kind of go ahead and get lowered along with them. So, you know, a couple interesting ways to play around the captain. Typically stuff like this wouldn't be super impactful or anything like that, but we've got I'm playing on the legendary difficulty of the campaign right now. But what's really cool about this expansion is this campaign actually has four different types of difficulties if I'm not mistaken through four different world ti. And so the legendary difficulty is just the second world tier. You unlock world tiers three and four after completing the base difficulty or legendary difficulty, I believe. I could be slightly wrong on that. I apologize if I am. But these new enemy types and the way that you kind of like right there, my threaded spike just does nothing to him. It doesn't do damage to him because he's got that fan blade right in front of him. So, it really changes your cycling of abilities and your ammo usage and whatnot. really manipulate your gameplay um from a combat perspective, which is going to be particularly important, especially on these higher world tiers. I mean, it's even making a difference in the legendary difficulty, which is only the uh difficulty number two. Imagine how impactful something like this is going to feel on difficulty number four, where things are like really, really, really hard and really difficult. Um it's really going to kind of throw a lot of players for a loop in my opinion. Um, so like I said, uh, we've got a couple of brand new enemies in here. We've got a couple of modifications to some existing enemies. Like I said, obviously everyone always wants a brand new race, but I feel like this is a happy middle ground, a happy medium. Um, cuz it does genuinely create a lot of good feeling and unique combat experiences. Uh, in contrast to previous campaigns where we feel like we're kind of mostly fighting the same enemies that we've been fighting for a very, very long time. This definitely has a taste of that. Don't get me wrong. There's still shanks. They're still drags. They're still servtors. They're still vex goblins and all that good stuff. But we've got a couple of new dudes that are freshening things up a little bit, which I really appreciate. So, right here, as you can see on the left side of my screen, uh we have to charge some pylons with Matter Spark. And so, this is one of the things I was mentioning. This is a very beginner and basic version of the puzzles that you'll kind of see uh involving these Kepler specific abilities like matter spark and some of the other ones that you'll unlock as you get through the other missions, but they just add an extra depth and an extra flavor to the gameplay that's not just simply go to this room, shoot this enemy, go to this room, kill these enemies, go to this room, kill this boss. You kind of have to think a little bit more. And whilst this one is particularly basic, it's just kind of trying to show you the ropes of Matter Spark and kind of get you acquainted with the principles of like, okay, if you want to turn into Matter Spark, you have to go specifically to one of these little Matter Spark terminals right here with the light poking out of the ground. You can't just snap into it whenever you feel like in the campaign. Um, and it also kind of gets you acquainted with like, okay, so when you are in Matter Spark, you're going to have to do kind of a little bit of funky terrain. You're going to kind of have to roam around this little ramp right here. Got to jump over it, right? You might think, well, like, okay, well, why didn't I just jump up here as my guardian and then turn into the matter spark? And so, stuff like this teaches you. It's like, okay, well, that doesn't work because you can only get the matter spark in a particular location. So, you have to go and actually acquire the matter spark and then you can go around and do all these puzzles and encounter these elixy was on Luna. They're called the exiles because each of them were exiled from their original house. It's odd though. I didn't think they had a leader. It's kind of what they're known for. That's the last of them. We've got what we need. Let's head back to the train and see if we can't get past that blockade. No more transmissions on the backlog. And the time stamps are all off. Keep heading for the train. Maybe we can triangulate a location. And so Ghost mentioned a very interesting thing there specifically with the House of Exile. another new narrative plot point going on in the Edge of Fate campaign where he is under the impression that they don't really have a leader which historically is true. The House of Exile is just a congregation of a bunch of fallen previously from other houses who as the name implies were exiled from their house. So they're they're kind of the uh they're kind of the misfits, right? If that makes sense. They they kind of band together and whatnot. And so as we get a little bit more into this mission, we're going to uncover a little bit more narrative and lore about the House of Exile. Right here, you're looking at me playing around with one of the new cloaks. Something you'll want to pay attention to is underneath the mods if I move my cursor. Unfortunately, I don't, but you can see as I hover over it, the ion renewal. That's one of the set bonuses. There we go. Thank you, Mac. Um, past Mac, rather. This is one of the set bonuses coming with uh the Edge of Fate. Every single new uh armor set is going to come with set bonuses. And so if you want to learn a bit more about set bonuses, again on my channel, I have a video all about set bonuses, the stat rework, the armor tier systems, the weapon tier systems, and a whole bunch of other stuff. And set bonuses are a particularly exciting thing that I am really jazzed about as a build crafter. So if you want to go and check out my channel after you're done watching this video, you can go and check that one out to learn a bit more about set bonuses, kind of show off what they're capable of. I talk about a couple of them. But right here, and I'm willing to talk through this one because there's no actual dialogue, no audio dialogue. Another member of the nine is reaching out to us. This one specifically, top right of the screen is five, Roman numeral 5. This is the fifth member of the nine. And so they're kind of communicating to us, giving us these like visions almost. I the way I'm imagining this is they're kind of like speaking directly into our minds or like transmitting this stuff directly into our minds as opposed to like directly communicating with us. So again, suppose you're right, Drifter, and we are dealing with the nine. You have the most experience with them. What did you observe in your interactions? Rumor has it the nine are extradimensional, caught in the gravity of soul's heaviest hitters. you know, planets, moons, stuff like that. There are aliens and there are aliens. And these guys are also, the nine can scheme all day like, but until they affect the real world, let's not give them more power than they actually possess. You trespass the domain of the once exile. Chosen of the giver. I am Aron Prime, sovereign of this, speaker of the voice invisible. So, a ton of interesting dialogue just happened right there. First of all, the conversation about the nine drifter kind of talking about how these dudes are like we don't really know that much about them. They're like extradimensional. They're tied to the gravity of certain planets within the soul system. That also aligns with what Allison Lures, the narrative director, told us where kind of each member of the nine is aligned with a particular celestial body of the soul system. Each one is aligned with a planet. So there's one of the members of the nine is aligned with Earth, one is aligned with the sun, one is aligned with Venus, one is aligned with Saturn and whatnot. Iicor also says, "Hey, we don't really know what these guys are capable of, so let's not give them more power than we know them to have." Which is also really interesting because it just further ties into the point of like we have really no we know nothing about the nine which is crazy considering how long the nine have canonically existed in Destiny's lore. I mean we've known about them for forever but with exception to like a couple of cuts scenes and like maybe a couple things in the season of the drifter back in like 2018. We've had basically no direct interaction with them, no direct conversations with them, and we basically know nothing about them, which is another reason that I'm so excited for the Edge of Fate campaign. I'm so excited to learn a ton about the Nine and like how powerful they are, what influence they can have on the universe, what influence they can have on us. Just so many cool things going on with them. Another interesting thing that is going on, apologies, I'm kind of playing around with like a set bonus right here. throwing on a grenade launcher so I can take advantage of these this two-piece set bonus that I have from ion renewal where I can get speed booster after I get a final blow with a grenade launcher. Again, video on my channel if you want to look into more of that stuff. But at the current moment, I want to talk about this vessel of the archon right here. And this kind of plays a little bit more into what Ghost was speaking about previously where he was like, "Wait a minute. Um, the House of Exile, like they don't really have a leader, right? Or like they're not supposed to. But this vessel of the Archon, we heard a voice line from him. Uh, that said they were Archon Prime, which is interesting because that sounds like kind of the name of someone who would be a leader. And what's really interesting about this vessel of the Archon right here that you're about to see in a brief moment is this vessel of the Archon is not Archon Prime. This one, this vessel isn't the person who was talking, so to speak. And you'll see right here in a moment. That elixy wasn't an archive. I wonder what that was all about. In the wake of destruction, one exile falls and three more rise. Hold on. That same voice, this Archon's voice is coming from another Alexi. I'm not sure what's going on. Exiles. I prophesy the deathless arrival. Creatures traded and kissed by the infinite curse of the great machine. The grand design beats us destroyed. Bring death to the deathless. Fulfill the destiny of the house of exile. strength of the singularity. Alodor said that voice is coming from another Alexis. So, a lot of crazy dialogue going right there. So, clearly there's this leader of the House of Exile named the Archon who is able to communicate through his vessels. As we saw right there, multiple of these different units, multiple of these different vessels of the Archon are communicating to us. And when we kill one, a new one spawns and starts talking to us. Additionally, this individual, the archon, the leader of the house of exile, said that they prophesized that we, the deathless, the uh the followers of the great machine, aka the traveler, would arrive. And he also said that they need to strengthen the singularity and bring death to the deathless, us being the deathless. And so whatever this black hole singularity thing is going on at the current moment inside of Kappler. You still don't understand how that voice jumped from one exile to another. The witness could possess, but that required a civilization's worth of darkness. Could something have drawn them here? Maybe the high concentration of dark matter is boosting this archon connection to darkness. Darkness is about connection of memory but it doesn't work like that and dark matter in spite of the name has nothing to do with darkness. So this is something else entirely. The apologies as I was saying. So clearly this seemingly house of exile leader the archon is like very pro-s singularity and they seemingly want to use it to bring death to us somehow. How is that going to unfold? Not exactly sure. Right now, we're collecting this unusual vessel right here. One of the archons lackeyis dropped something. Ofucus' energy readings are spiking. This is a container of dark matter. The same connected to the singularity. Don't let that go. So, we found this strange lit capsule from one of the archons lackeyis, which is a source of dark matter. It's connected to dark matter. How does that play specifically into the House of Exile and the Archon? Maybe it's the source of the archon's power. Maybe he has a bunch of these things. I don't know. But for now, we're just going to have to wait and play for the expansion to come out. Play more missions to get that answer. But for now, we're going to meet Loi. Hold it. Who do you work for and what's your business here? Telemetry originates at this location, but the signal is weak. What are you doing here? We're Guardians from Earth's Vanguard. Circumstances suggest we were invited, but we don't know who sent the invitation. Earth, have you been here a while? Uh, I have journal entries tallying four weeks, but my 5:00 shadow says a day. Something's wrong with time. It's my job to investigate. You picked up something that's special to the people here. Use it. I'll see you on the other side. We can talk there. You can uh tell me all about Earth. That's the man who sent the distress signal, but he didn't seem in distress. Something's wrong with time. I'm curious as to how our contact intends to fix it. But his observations seem to be correct. And we just got here. There's probably a whole mess of time nonsense just around the corner. Agreed. This train's temporal presence is concerning. That's the least of our worries. The real head scratcher is our new friend saying the people here. Iicora did say she suspected sentient life. So, our very first interaction with Loi and the way he responds and reacts to Earth and hearing about it, just kind of chuckling, haha, you can tell me all about Earth, tells us that he has journal entries telling that he's been here for 4 weeks. Yet, at best, he has a 5:00 shadow. And even just the mention of a 5:00 shadow. I'm not saying Guardians don't use the term 5:00 shadow in the year 3000 whatever the year is in the Destiny universe. But that's so that's like textbook 1980s 9 to5 office worker to be like, "Oh yeah, I got my 5:00 shadow." My theory is that Loi is a dude from Earth and he got he got transported here somehow someway. I have no idea what the implications of that are are absolutely insane. No idea what's going on. I would if someone tell BE he has my full permission to use as much of this footage from this particular video as he pleases and and he and he can he can show any of this on one of his videos and explain his thoughts. But for now, I'm going to shut up cuz we got another little cut scene coming up. Sorry for all that earlier. My name's Loi. My introductions aren't usually that rude. Come on, let me show you around. Your companion gave me a debrief about your mission before she insisted on meeting the scientists here. Scientists? Oh, yeah. The Ionians are brilliant. They uh been great hosts since I showed up here a few weeks back. Objects from a different time were sent to us like we were called or invited. Did you get one, too? Uh, of sorts. I got a call of my own. I hope your ride was smoother than mine. Are you headed back to Earth after? Are you asking for a ride? Just conversation. Appreciate the offer. I'm staying with the locals for a while. Time distortions all over this place. The Elixney make it hard to traverse further out. Fascinating, aren't they? You know, the language structure similar to Finnish. Keep an eye out for the House of Exiles. They didn't like me getting close with my recorder. If you're here to sort out the time anomaly, it sounds like we're on the same side. I'll help you look into your calling card. Will you help the locals with some of the weightier tasks? You seem like you can handle yourself. First, a few words. I can appreciate that. So, that right there is the very first mission of the Edge of Fate campaign, the invitation. I'm not going to keep you for too much longer and shove all my theories down your ears. I'm going to let you make up your own mind and come up with your own theories as to what's going on here and what all these things mean, where Loa is actually from, what's going on with the House of Exile, what's going on with the Nine, how's the Drifter play a role. I'm going to let you make up your mind. I'm going to let you figure it out and I'm going to let you decide. And I hope you join me in the Edge of Fate. Come to twitch.tv/mactics. And if you want to ask any more questions about the Edge of Fate, any more questions about what I captured early, I hope you enjoyed this one. Thank you so much for watching. As always, have a great
