Required Setup

• You need a fast way to reach the King’s Fall Maze checkpoint.

  • The creator recommends a Destiny Twitch checkpoint bot (linked in the video description) that can place you directly at the maze.

• You must use a weapon capable of AFK farming: Sightline Survey.

  • On final blows, it spawns damage-over-time “pools” that continually refresh as they kill thralls.

  • These pools apply just enough damage to repeatedly spawn-kill incoming thralls without manual input.

  • It specifically must be Sightline Survey, not the other tools in the same weapon set, because only its pool damage is tuned correctly for this setup.

Weapon Tuning Details

• The key is tuning the pool damage into a narrow window between 50 and 60.

  • Above 60 damage: thralls will flinch and get knocked out of position, which breaks the AFK loop and reduces consistency.

  • Below 50 damage: the pools will not kill the thralls reliably, so the chain of kills collapses.

• The Desperate Measures perk can be used to fine-tune your damage into the target range.

  • Desperate Measures at talent rank 3 combined with a 40-point weapon stat is explicitly called out as a working configuration.

  • This setup keeps damage inside the 50–60 band, allowing the looped spawn-killing behavior to continue without interruption.

Drops From Farming Spot

• Regular thrall ingredient drops from this farm include:

  • Taken Butter

  • Shifting Powder (transcript mispronounced; still treated as a Dawning ingredient)

  • Electric Flavor

• These three ingredients can be combined into cookies, including cookies for Xur.

• Additional drops if you have the ship Starfarer 7M equipped:

  • Dawning Spirit is generated passively while farming this spot with the ship on.

  • Starfarer 7M can be reclaimed from Collections if you obtained it in Season 12.

  • If you never owned it, it can be bought from Eva once you complete the initial Dawning quest.

Dawning Spirit Importance

• Dawning Spirit is extremely valuable in the current Dawning event.

  • It functions as a direct currency to purchase Dawning weapons, removing a lot of randomness from the grind.

• If you are using Dawning Spirit to buy weapons, the specific ingredient drops (Taken Butter, Shifting Powder, Electric Flavor) are largely incidental.

  • You can essentially ignore their detailed usage and just let them stack up while you focus on Spirit.

• The King’s Fall Maze thrall farm works perfectly if your only goal is to build Dawning Spirit and then convert it straight into weapon purchases.

Essence Of Dawning (For Cookies)

• Essence of Dawning is required to bake cookies, including those used to “bait” weapon rolls.

  • Without Essence, ingredients alone are not enough to craft cookies.

• Essence only drops from completed activities, not from the AFK thrall farm itself.

• Fast activity options to build up Essence:

  • Shattered Throne final checkpoint:

    • The classic method, still effective for stacking Essence rapidly.

  • Final campaign checkpoint of Renegades:

    • Specifically the section between breaking the fuse and escaping the Cabal vessel during the sparrow segment.

    • This section is quick and repeatable for Essence farming.

• Both of these speed-farm options generally work best when multiple players are swapping and sharing checkpoints.

Strategy Recommendations

• Recommended overall plan:

  • Use the King’s Fall Maze farm with Sightline Survey and Starfarer 7M to steadily generate Dawning Spirit while mostly AFK.

  • Once you unlock the Dawning upgrades that let you buy weapons directly, start spending Dawning Spirit on those weapons.

  • Meanwhile, accumulate Essence of Dawning simply by playing your usual activities throughout the event.

  • Near the end of the Dawning, use your stockpiled Essence plus ingredients to bake and turn in large numbers of cookies.

• This approach yields many rolls of the new Dawning weapons with minimal focused grinding.

• Cookie turn-ins can drop loot from:

  • Vanguard-style “basic” playlist activities

  • Pinnacle-reward activities

  • Crucible ops playlists

• If there are specific activities you dislike running, you can target their loot indirectly by handing in cookies instead of playing those playlists directly.

Action Items

• Secure or join a King’s Fall Maze checkpoint, preferably via the recommended Twitch checkpoint bot.

• Equip Sightline Survey and tune its damage so the pool sits between 50–60, using Desperate Measures and weapon stat adjustments as needed.

• Obtain and equip the Starfarer 7M ship if you plan to focus on Dawning Spirit farming.

• During normal gameplay, farm Essence of Dawning from activity completions to prepare for a large cookie-baking session later in the event.

Decisions

• Prioritize Dawning Spirit spending to buy Dawning weapons directly once upgrades are unlocked (strongly recommended main path).

• Use cookie crafting and turn-ins primarily:

  • To chase additional weapon rolls in bulk near the event’s end.

  • To acquire loot from activity pools you prefer not to play, leveraging cookies instead of direct playlist grinding.

The Dawning event just hit Destiny 2, which means one thing. How can you get the rewards it provides with as little effort as possible? I have just the thing. So remember back in Revenant you could farm a spot in the King's Fall Maze for weapon drops?

You can farm these same thralls for Dawning ingredients. Unfortunately, two of the ones they can drop can be used together to create a cookie, the Xur. For this to work you will need a few things.

First a method of getting to the maze, and for this I highly recommend using the Destiny Twitch checkpoint bot, I will link in the description which can take you straight there. Next you want a weapon capable of AFK farming, the best is Sightline Survey, as it spawns damage over time pulls on final blows which will just refresh themselves over and over, dealing the right amount of damage to spawn kill the thralls. It does have to be this weapon unfortunately not the other ones in the same set due to the damage of the pull. You want it to be between 50 and 60. Above 60 the thralls will flinch anarnia breaking the loop.

Below 50 it's not going to do enough damage to kill them. Desperate measures can get you into this damage range and now we also have the weapon stat for a bit of extra tuning. Desperate measures talent 3 and 40 weapon stat does work.

so these provide taken butter, shitting powder and electric flavour. However you can also get Dawning Spirit from this if you have the ship Starfarer 7M equipped. This can be pulled from collections season 12 and if you don't own it can be brought from EVO once you've completed the initial Dawning quest. This Dawning Spirit is very important this year as it is just a direct method of purchasing Dawning weapons, all the other ingredients don't even matter. So if you want to exclusively use these to farm weapons, then this strap by itself works completely fine.

But if you want to bait cookies, this also requires Essence of Dawning. This can only be dropped from activity completions. The classic shattered throne final checkpoint will still rack up these very quickly, but also the final campaign checkpoint of renegades, between breaking the fuse and escaping the cabal vessel, the sparrow part, is very quick. However, both of these do require multiple people checkpoint swapping. To be honest though, what I'd recommend is this, just use the dawning spirit once you've got the upgrades to buy weapons directly.

and then just create hundreds of cookies towards the end of the event with all the essence you've gathered in the meantime from just playing the game. This is the easiest way to get a lot of rolls of the new weapons. Also if you hand in cookies these can give loot from basic portal, pinnacle and crucible ops.

So if there's any of those activities you don't really like then you can use this method to get loot from those instead.

Here is how you can farm all the dawning weapons with incredibly low effort. The kings fall maze checkpoint coming in clutch yet again! This can be done solo too without needing to half complete the raid. The weapons can also now be purchased using only dawning spirit completely bypassing the need to even make cookies if you don't feel like gathering essence. The weapons which can be farmed with this method includes:
