Destiny 2: Revenant Episode Overview
Destiny's newest episode, Revenant, is finally here. And today we're going to be going over our complete guide on how this episode works. From potion crafting, to field work, how to target loot things, how to unlock new potions, how the new onslaught mode works. Fellas, this is a thick guide. And the reason why this one is thicker than most is because for the first time ever, Bungie is releasing everything all at once.
Everything within this act is playable. right now. So let's begin.
To get started, simply just load up the game, and Revenant will open up with a mission called Naveskarisk. Probably butchering the hell out of that name, but this will take place on Europa. It's pretty straightforward here, guys.
You're going to go in, you're going to kill some Scorn, you'll eventually make your way to these cages, and you'll see that you need to free a Lynxneed, which is pretty much what this entire season is about. Now, when freeing these Lynxneeds, you want to make sure you're inside of the smoke. that is surrounding the cage and then you're going to shoot the totem at the top of it now this is a mechanic that will maintain itself even throughout onslaught so get used to it after doing this though you'll eventually make your way to this room with aramis and more scorn now it's here that fickle will appear and will spawn in a yellow bar revenant baron now once he is killed you'll see in the bottom left hand corner that a revenant totem has dropped and you'll visually see it start forming from the baron's corpse now it's important to follow the totem and destroy it otherwise the baron will respawn Again, kind of like Lucent Hive, where you gotta get the finish.
And again, this is another mechanic that will be very important in things like Onslaught Salvation. Now, after this, just proceed forward, kill some more Scorn, and then eventually you'll confront Eramis with Crow, and you'll take her aboard the Hound. Now, at this point, you'll get a cutscene, and if you haven't played the story, well, here it is. This is your spoiler warning, but Fikral boards the Hound. He proceeds a corrupted Link Sneak on a nearby catch, which then crashes into the Hound.
which then causes the helm to crash land, resulting in Felsafe taking over, and now the helm is going to require repairs. And this leads us to our brand new social space in The Last City, which let me just say, I am all for. Look man, we've been doing missions out of the helm now for what feels like an eternity. My eyes can't take it anymore, so I'm happy to be here in The Last City.
Now from The Last City, you can then head towards Ida, who will talk about tonics and elixirs. She then brings up her father Mithrax, who is sick from Nesrax's curse, and is getting... worse day by day, and she wants to find a cure. Now, after talking to Ida, you can pick up the Act 1 Prologue quest, which step one will have you witness a conversation between Mithrax and Varix. Now, after this, you'll get a pretty cool cutscene of Mithrax.
Then you'll talk directly with him, where he'll name you his Slayer Baron. You will be defending House of Light. Next, you're going to head on over to the Tonic Table, where you'll pick up the artifact for this episode, the Slayer Baron Apothecary Satchel, as well as the Act 1 quest called Eliksni Rune.
Rescue now after that you then get a message on the holo projector from Ido and from here This is where the quest will split into two directions You have the rest of the pro long which tasks you with playing onslaughts You also have the Act 1 quest which is going to walk you through potion crafting in field work now We're gonna start there with the potion crafting and essentially explain how this system works the tutorial is alright But yes, there's definitely a lot that's left off here. But by the end of this guys, you're gonna understand exactly how potion crafting works and why you want to potion craft in this episode. So to start, you'll need to select a tonic from the tonic table and you have two that you can select at first.
Tonic of roll the gear and tonic of onslaught gear. Now both of these tonics last for 20 minutes and it doesn't matter which one you pick, but I would assume most people are probably going to go for the onslaught one to get the new gear. Now once you've selected your tonic, you'll then head over to pick up your ingredients from the shelf. to the right, and then you'll head on over to the Eliksni Apparatus right there in the middle. You'll do a taste test of your potion, where it literally shows your guardian drinking the potion, and then you'll imbue your tonic with Power of Light, which will then pop out the tonic you chose to craft.
That is essentially the steps you do every time in order to craft a tonic, which if you ever forget how, the quest steps show up on the screen every single time. Now, If you're in a situation like I was in and you are at this part of the quest and you're like, dude, I don't see it. The ingredients aren't there for pickup. What's going on?
Make sure you have inventory space. If you are holding a bunch of bounties, one of your quest steps is most likely sitting in your postmaster. This affected me, guys.
I had to actually get rid of some of my bounties and then go to my postmaster and pick up the quest step physically. It wouldn't even let me pull it from them. So something to keep in mind, guys, if you're at this part and you're stuck, go check your postmaster. The process of making this potion right here is essentially how you're going to be making potions every single time.
After this, though, you can head over to Ido, who will give you a small tonic reagent sack, containing multiple ingredients to craft even more tonics, which Ido will ask you to craft multiple at the same time, which, by the way, works exactly the same. You just select two or more tonics and then repeat the crafting steps from before. The only difference being, this time, you're crafting volatile tonics, which are the ones that give you special combat effects and also boosts...
your origin traits. Here we have Dyn... diluted tonic of protecting frost diluted tonic of stasis crystallization and diluted tonic of renewing finishers as well as diluted tonic of weakening void and diluted tonic of amplified arc now these again are all green and uncommon tonics and there are tiers to these tonics but the green ones here last for 20 minutes now after crafting these tonics you're probably wondering how do we use them guys you can just tab over to your character's inventory and you'll see at the top above your consumables your tonic capsule now you can also see this tonic capsule in your quest tab But for some reason for me, whenever I go through my quest tab, my screen tends to freeze and I have issues selecting anything.
So again, going through your inventory for me at least avoided this issue. Now inside is where you can view and use all of your different tonics that you craft. And at the bottom shows the different reagents you'll need in order to craft tonics.
It also shows how to acquire them. Now there's Reclaim Vitality, which is going to be the most common ingredient as you earn it from defeating combatants and collecting destination materials. Next is Volatile Powder.
an uncommon ingredient that is obtained throughout the system, though most efficiently from episode revenant activities. Next is enriching powder, which is also uncommon. And the same thing with this one.
It's earned throughout the system, but most efficiently from revenant activities. Next, we're into our blue and rare ingredients. We have volatile flake, which is obtained from many sources, but again, most efficiently from revenant activities.
The next two are actually locked reagents. There's tomb flake, which, get this, can be obtained from Tomb of Elder Activities. Little hint, hint. For those that don't know, it's literally Prison of Elders, and it's most likely going to be coming back in Act 2. We also have Reflective Flake, which is going to be from the exotic mission, Kel's Fall.
This one is likely going to release in Act 3. We then have our Legendary Reagents, Volatile Nugget, which is obtained from many sources, but most efficiently from higher difficulty revenant activities, and Enriching Nugget, which reads the same thing. Now, TLDR is if you need Reagents, literally just play Onslaught Salvation, guys. And yes, the- higher tiers of Onslaught, that being expert Onslaught is even more rewarding.
Now, if you're just looking to get things like Reclaim Vitality, you could farm up pretty much at any encounter that has a lot of ads. I was actually running Shrewd Chief for a bit, and it was netting me a ton of Reclaim Vitality. But again, you're going to need all of these.
So in my opinion, tackling Onslaught Salvation is going to net you the most resources overall. Now let's talk about Fieldwork, which ties directly in obtaining new tonic recipes as they go hand in hand with each other. After completing the potion crafting tutorial, you can now speak with Ida, who will give you a weapon reward. And then in her inventory, you will see a section for Act 1 fieldwork. Now, here you'll have a minor, a major, and a key fieldwork.
You'll also be able to see the total for how many tonic recipes that you have discovered. And yes, you have to discover them. Now, to start, you'll be able to select two minor fieldworks, and it doesn't really matter which ones you choose. So pick whichever you want.
And these minor fieldworks are... very straightforward essentially tasking you to kill enemies or completing activities on that destination the other objective is you collecting a mysterious object on that destination now all of these areas are actually marked on your map you can literally go and see it for each of these minor field works however we're going to show you where each of these are located for minor field work one europa this tasks you with defeating 50 targets on europa and collect the object near the entrance of the Perdition Law Sector in Cadmus Ridge. Now if you look on your map for Europa, it will show you the general area again. But to find this particular object, you want to head on over to the entrance of the Perdition Law Sector. And if you're facing the direction of the entrance, just look to your left and you'll see something glowing on the ground in this ice tunnel.
You can then walk over to it and collect it. Now for minor fieldwork to Europa, This will ask you to complete two Europa activities and collect the object near the entrance of the Bray Exoscience building in Cadmus Ridge. Now, this is a pretty good one to double up on, as you can do the Perdition Lost Sector three times and defeat the 50 enemies, which would then complete both of those objectives. But again, you could also do patrols, which are really easy to knock out. Those will all count toward those objectives.
Now, as for finding the object, just head on over to the Bray building. And if you head inside, you'll see the object glowing in the ground. just proceed on over and collect it.
Next is Miner Fieldwork 3. This is on Nessus. For this, you'll need to defeat five powerful Kabatons, and you'll need to get the mysterious object located in a pipe segment in Exus Black on Nessus. Next, we have Miner Fieldwork 4, Nessus, where it requires us to defeat 50 Kabatons and collect the object located under the roots of a large tree in the cistern.
Next is Fieldwork 5. This is located in the EDZ. Here you'll complete three EDZ activities, and you'll collect the object here located at the Trio of Statues in the outskirts. Next is Fieldwork 6. This is also in the EDZ, guys, where you defeat 15 enemies using finishers.
And the object is located near the waterfalls, leading to the dark forest in the sludge. Now next one is Fieldwork 7. This one will be back on Europa, where you need to get 35 solar, or stasis final blows. And for the object, object it's going to be located on a crane platform in the northern area of eventide labs next is fieldwork 8 europa you'll need to defeat targets until the bar reaches 100 progress it also says that enforcer briggs will give you additional progress guys but that's not necessary literally just running into a lost sector or something easily completes this now the object here is located in the northwest section of eventide ruins near the antenna on the top of a dome-shaped building next is fieldwork 9. this is also on europa you'll need to generate 20 orbs of power, and the object will be located in the icy plains of the northernmost section near the castle.
Now, for those that are going to be generating orbs of power, again, take advantage of your super, your siphon mods, and of course, reaper on your class item. That way, you could double up and create even more orbs. Now, last but not least, we have field work 10 Europa.
You'll need to rapidly defeat 30 enemies, and then find the object located in an underground cavern by the concealed void lost sector entrance in the Asterian Abyss. Now, completing... each of these minor field works you will get a small tonic reagent sack giving you ingredients for more potion crafting now once you've completed any two of these minor field works you'll now be able to select one major field work now these are pretty substantial you'll get a medium tonic sack so again more ingredients here you also get a piece of a lore book but most importantly you will get upgrades for your tonics now these major field works are very straightforward even more straightforward than the miners essentially you just spawn into a destination To fill work, you'll see the marker right there on the destination screen, and this will lead you to a tonic table. It'll simply just ask you to drink the experimental tonic, and then when you do so, you'll be placed into a mission, and they're all the same. Literally, all you have to do is kill 15 enemies within 2 minutes, and then the mission is complete, and you can now head back to Idle to claim your reward.
Kinda crazy how easy these missions are. Now, there's no particular order that you need to do these in, but if you are looking to optimize, then I do have an order that I personally found to be the best, as it will give you the most beneficial upgrades first. So the first one that I would recommend would be Major Fieldwork 1. This is the one on Europa.
This will give you the upgrade called Blood Drive. Essentially, when you collect Reclaim Vitality, there's a chance to reward Uncommon Reagents. What that means, guys, is that enemy kills and picking up planetary materials will have a chance to give you uncommon ingredients, thus helping you get more quicker.
Next, I recommend Major Fieldwork 5. This is the one on Neptune, and this gives Revenant Recycler, which reads that dismantling episode Revenant weapons now rewards reagents. This is fantastic for those of us farming onslaughts as we're weeding through the bad rolls. When deleting them, now we're going to be getting reagents.
Next, I would recommend Major Fieldwork 3. This is the one in the EDZ. This will give you performance. bonus.
Where completing bonus objectives in Onslaught, Salvation, grants additional reagents and reputation progress. So literally those bonus objectives where it's like collect this item that normally would just net you heavy ammo, not only will it net you heavy ammo, it'll now give you additional reagents. Next, I would recommend Major Fieldwork 4. This is the one on the moon, and it gives you Bounty Harvester.
Essentially completing daily bounties rewards reagents, with a small chance of earning high quality. quality reagents. Now last, I'd recommend Major Fieldwork 2. It's the one on Nestis, and it gives you extraordinary tonics, which increases the chance to synthesize higher tier tonics in Ido's laboratory.
I'm not saying this one's not important, and I know we kept this one for last, and it'll serve its purpose. But for now, doing those other Major Fieldworks first is going to be more beneficial for obtaining those base versions of those tonics and saving you time. on those reagents. Now, by this point, you may be wondering, Cross, how the hell do I even get more tonic recipes? You're telling me all this other stuff to unlock fieldwork quests?
I'm just trying to get more tonics. Unfortunately, Bungie doesn't really explain this well, at least in the tutorial, but it's pretty easy, guys. The only downside is that it's a bit time consuming.
At the tonic table, you'll see you have the green and uncommon tonics that you can craft. Now, as you keep crafting more, this will then unlock further rarities. And from what we can tell, you'll essentially need to craft six of the same green to then unlock the blue rarity tonic. Then you need to craft four of the blue tonic, which will unlock the purple legendary rarity.
So for example, crafting six diluted tonics of protecting frost will then unlock the ability to craft potent tonic of protecting frost. Now this blue rarity seems to give the same combat benefits of while frost armor is active, primary ammo stays as weapons deal bonus damage. The difference here is that this one will last for 40 minutes versus the 20, and it has a different artifact boost. Then for the purple rarity, this will last for 60 minutes and will give you both the artifact boosts found on the green and blue rarity tonics, letting you boost two different artifact mods at once.
Now, this is just our volatile tonics. If you head on over to the section for enriching tonics, there's a ton more. This is going to be divided up into four sections. You've got onslaught tonics, world gear tonics, shade stalker tonics, and... resource tonics.
First up for Onslaught, you got The green tonic of onslaught gear which can give shade stalker armor onslaught salvation weapons and vintage onslaught weapons Which are your splicer weapons now you can craft six of these to unlock a blue rarity now These are going to be three different types of blues that you can get this tonic of vintage onslaught weaponry Which lasts for 40 minutes and gives you a chance to earn a vintage onslaught weapon There's also tonic of onslaught weaponry which also lasts 40 minutes and gives you a chance to earn an Onslaught Salvation weapon. And you can also get Tonic of Shadestalker Armor, which will be found in the Shadestalker Tonic section. Again, this will last for 40 minutes and will give a chance to earn Shadestalker Armor. Now, as you craft four of the same Tonics of these blues, this will then unlock the legendary options. Now, it's here that you can directly focus for specific weapons, whether it be the new Onslaught weapons or the Spicer weapons.
Then we got the section for World Gear Tonics. You'll start with the Green Tonic of World Gear. This will last for 20 minutes. with a chance to earn World Weapons and World Armor. And like before, after crafting six of these, this will split off into blues for Tonic of Worldly Weaponry and Tonic of Worldly Armor.
Then once you get to the legendaries, you get more specific options, such as Tonic of Kinetic Weaponry, Tonic of Energy Weaponry, and Tonic of Heavy Weaponry. Therefore, letting you focus for weapons in those specific slots. You then also have legendary tonics to focus for specific World Armor.
Now, the Shadestalker section. The legendaries here will let you focus for the specific armor piece that you may want. Now, lastly, we have the resource tonics, which you unlock after completing the key field work.
Now, this section lets you get tonics for a chance of things like enhancement cores, ascended shards, glimmer, and more. But this week, we just have green, blue, and purple rarities of glimmer tonics. And I assume we're going to get the other resources in the coming acts. Now, additionally, from the key field work, this also gives you an intrinsic upgrade to your tonic.
capsule, which extends the duration of all tonics by 10%. Now, as you play, you may also come across exotic tonics. For example, I got one that gives a chance at unlocking an exotic cipher. I got this tonic as literally an RNG drop with the extraordinary tonics buff we talked about earlier.
Now, as of right now, there's no way to brew exotic tonics without relying on RNG. But from what we can see in the database, exotic tonics include some for exotic ciphers, ascended alloys, and ascended shards. Now, another thing to note with- all tonic crafting is that after crafting 50 tonics, you'll be able to complete the Alchemastery Triumph that removes the need to interact with a shelf each time you want to make some more.
So a little something there to save a bit more time. Now with tonics and Ido squared away, we need to talk about Onslaught Salvation. This is going to be where most of us are going to be spending to grind for reagents, loot, and of course, using our tonics.
Firstly, on the resource side of things, Onslaught is a great place to get reclaim vitality via tons of kills and is also a great source of volatile enriching powder and flakes. Now these can drop from the boss chests as well as from bonus objectives, but only if you have the performance bonus major field work done that we detailed earlier. Now in the interest of getting as many resources as possible, I do believe that expert onslaught salvation is your way to go.
Now if it may be too much of a struggle for you, currently right now, and again this may be fixed by the time this guide goes out, the expert version of Eventide is actually powered capped at 2010 versus 2065. Meaning it is miles easier, guys, to get through that expert onslaught. So if you're running with a team of randoms, especially in things like Fireteam Finder, take advantage of this, guys. Even though Eventide does have enemies that spread out a bit more, the enemies themselves are substantially easier. And keep in mind, the expert version of Onslaught Salvation gives you double drops.
And that's for everything. Double weapon drops, double resource drops. It's fantastic. But that brings us back to Onslaught Salvation's base rewards.
The weapons you can expect to get are the same ones we make tonics for, that being Vantage Point, Bittersweet, Exuviate, Liturgy, Insurmountable, and Sovereignty. These will drop from chests, with the possibility of double perk shiny rolls on any weapon dropped from waves past 30. Now I don't know if it's my RNG guys, but I personally haven't seen a shiny weapon yet, so if you got one, let us know. Now for those that are going to be tackling Onslaught Salvation, it's no joke guys, it's tough, and we're going to have a more detailed guide with builds recommended for this activity.
For the time being, take advantage of the new traps. Now, the new turrets that you can man, I think they're pretty fun, but I also think they're kind of weak, considering they literally take you out to gunfight. Airstrikes, though, are very strong, as it can nuke entire waves.
Trip wires are absolutely a must when fully upgraded. And for the final boss, at least for this week, which you can see in the modifiers here, if it happens to be the Subjugator, again, guys, use Microcosm. Microcosm shreds the Subjugator. We'll have a more in-depth guide on Onslaught Salvation.
We'll probably have a... build guide as well for builds we recommend for reaching expert 50. For the time being, take advantage of event time being bugged where things are capped at 2010 and watch out for the booby traps. There are so many traps now.
If you see an exotic engram on the ground, let me just say probably a booby trap. If you see ammo on the ground, probably a booby trap and the damage they do will annihilate you. So be very careful when running to grab those things. So guys, that is your guide here for Revenant Act 1. one we'll be grinding with viewers over on our twitch doing some onslaught salvation we'll be kicking up build battles for this week as well which is a series where you come into our stream submit a build to compete against someone else's bill we would love to have you join us fellas and ladies thank you all for coming and watching and as always slap that like button like your mama told you right
